The RX is the car that created the luxury crossover, and the RX350 is its mainstream version — two rows, front-biased handling, and running costs closer to a family SUV than to a German equivalent.


What to look over on a used Lexus RX350

  • Which generation — 2023 onwards is a different engine and platform.
  • Service history in full, especially past 100,000 km.
  • Suspension bushes and tyres on higher-mileage cars.

Expect between AED 200,750 and AED 200,750 on our current listings, which are mid-2020s cars — around 30% under a new RX350, and the strongest argument for buying one used rather than new.

It is the reason people keep buying them: 7% of the Lexus RX350s we inspect in the UAE show a mechanical fault in the engine, gearbox, suspension or steering, against the 17% we would expect for SUVs of the same age and mileage here, and electrical faults appear in 4% against 12% expected for that same group. That holds at a typical 125,000 km, where a European rival of the same age is normally into its expensive years.

The Toyota Land Cruiser costs considerably more and retains 63%, so it is the better long-term hold if you can afford the entry price and the fuel. The Audi Q7 undercuts the RX with a third row, but shows mechanical faults in 35% of cars against a 24% expectation for its class. On running costs the Lexus wins comfortably.

Know which of two very different cars you are looking at. From 2016 the RX took on the sharply creased body and a much stiffer structure, and that generation ran to 2022 with a V6. The fifth-generation car arrived for 2023 on a new platform with a smaller turbocharged engine, a different driving character and a far better cabin. Buy 2019 to 2022 for the V6, or 2023 onwards for the newer everything.

This is the weak spot, and worth knowing before you buy: about 42% of its value after five years, behind the 52% typical of UAE SUVs and the same 52% across Lexus locally. It makes the RX a good car to buy used and an expensive one to buy new.
