A 2023 CX-9 averaged AED 63,000 in our UAE sales and a 2021 AED 56,000. Live asking prices run from AED 85,000 for a late-2010s car up to AED 87,000 for a recent one.

Be honest about seats. The RAV4 and the Nissan X-Trail are cheaper to run and stronger on value retention, but neither gives you a usable third row. Need seven seats and the CX-9 undercuts most alternatives; if you do not, the two-row rivals are the better buy.

2021 to 2023. The second-generation CX-9 arrived for 2016 with a 2.5-litre turbo replacing the old V6, and was updated in 2021 with a better interior and revised suspension before the CX-90 took over. The last cars are the most complete version of a finished nameplate; 2016 to 2018 examples are the cheapest way into a seven-seat Mazda.

Not as well as the class — about 47% of its value after five years, against roughly 55% for UAE SUVs and 53% across used Mazdas. The Toyota RAV4 keeps about 56%.
