Going by our closed UAE sales, a 2022 Nissan Patrol averaged AED 177,000, a 2020 AED 96,000, a 2019 AED 90,000, a 2016 AED 62,000 and a 2015 AED 55,000 — the steepest part of the curve sits between the early-2020s and late-2010s cars. Our listings ask between AED 41,500 and AED 369,000.

It is one of the strongest performers in our UAE inspection data. CarSwitch has inspected more than 1,200 Patrols in the UAE, and only 11% show a fault in the engine, gearbox, suspension or steering, against the 19% we would expect for large SUVs of the same age and mileage here, where the Audi Q7 runs at 35%. Tyres come in at 8% against an expected 13% and interior staining at 27% against 32% — every category better than the class.

The Land Cruiser is the better asset and asks more at every year. The BMW X5 costs similar money and is the better road car with none of the desert credibility. The Patrol splits the difference reliably.

Settle Y61 versus Y62 first — two different vehicles sold side by side here for years. The Y61, the Safari, is the old-school one: live axles, a straight-six, minimal electronics, and the choice of people who take a Patrol into the dunes and fix it themselves. The Y62 arrived in 2010 with independent suspension, a comfortable cabin and a V8 or V6, and was heavily updated in 2020. For most buyers a 2017 to 2020 Y62 is the sweet spot; for hard desert work, a late Safari.

Not as well as its main rival — about 43% after five years against roughly 56% for SUVs of its size and age, while the Toyota Land Cruiser returns about 63%. That gap is the argument for buying a Patrol used.
