Frequently asked questions

About AED 198,000 buys a 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser, with a 2024 at AED 239,000 and a 2023 at AED 234,000. Live asking prices run from AED 83,000 for a late-2010s car up to AED 314,990 for a current-year one.

CarSwitch has inspected more than 600 Land Cruisers in the UAE, and only 6% show a mechanical fault in the engine, gearbox, suspension or steering, against the 11% we would expect for SUVs of the same age and mileage here, and 35% show evidence of previous body or panel work against the 45% we would expect for the same class. The Nissan Patrol is the closest thing to it at 11% for mechanical faults against the 19% expected for its own class.

The Patrol is quicker, plusher inside and cheaper to buy used. The Toyota Prado is the smaller, cheaper Land Cruiser and matches it on retention at about 63%, so take the Prado unless you need the size and towing.

The 200 series was facelifted for the 2016 model year with the current nose, a better cabin and more safety kit, and ran until 2021, so a facelifted 200 with the 4.0 V6 is the most car for the money. The 300 series replaced it for 2022 with a twin-turbo V6 in place of the old V8 — newer, faster, more electronics.

Better than anything else this size, at about 63% of its value after five years, against roughly 56% for SUVs of its size and age. The Patrol holds about 43% and the Lexus RX350 about 42%.
