The G70 is the smallest Genesis and the one that behaves least like a value proposition — rear-wheel drive, a short wheelbase and a chassis developed to be driven rather than to be quiet. It is aimed squarely at the compact German executive saloon. It has been on sale since 2017, with a 2021 facelift that changed the lighting and the cabin.
How much does the Genesis G70 cost in the UAE?
Two versions, and the choice is between four cylinders and six rather than between equipment levels. The 2.0T Premium at AED 170,000 has the 2 L turbo and 252 BHP; the 3.3T Royal at AED 215,000 moves to the twin-turbo six and the full equipment list at the same time.
Which G70 trim is the one to buy?
The four-cylinder Premium is the better everyday car. It is lighter over the front axle, uses noticeably less fuel and already carries the interior and driver assistance that make the G70 feel expensive. The 3.3T Royal is genuinely quick and is the enthusiast's answer, but it moves the running costs into a different bracket for performance you can rarely deploy here.
Genesis G70 or BMW 3 Series?
The G70 undercuts the 3 Series while arriving with leather, a full assistance suite and a longer warranty as standard, and it is a genuine rear-drive saloon rather than a soft imitation of one. The BMW 3 Series is sharper at the limit, roomier in the back and much easier to sell on. The Audi A4 is the quietest and least demonstrative.
What does a Genesis G70 cost to run in the UAE?
About 10 Km/L from the four-cylinder, and servicing is inexpensive by premium standards because the mechanical parts are shared with Hyundai's larger cars rather than unique to the brand. The one thing to establish before buying is where your nearest authorised centre is, because Genesis runs a smaller network here than the German three do.
How does the Genesis G70 hold its value here?
Modelled at about 44% after five years, below the roughly 51% Korean cars average in the Emirates — the price of being a young premium brand rather than a reflection of the car. That is also the used buyer's opportunity. At inspection these run a median of about 70,000 km, so pay attention to the gearbox on a cold start, the suspension, and whether servicing stayed inside the Genesis network.
Is a used G70 the better buy?
On price, overwhelmingly. An early-2020s example generally runs around AED 50,000 to AED 70,000, roughly 69% under the new entry price — about AED 120,000 saved. A drop that steep is the strongest possible argument for buying used and the clearest warning about buying new. Read the service history and the inspection report, then browse the used G70 listings.
Drive the four-cylinder car first; it is the version that makes the financial argument work.
