The Toyota Land Cruiser costs similar money and wins where it counts, holding about 63% after five years with cleaner bodywork at 35% against the 45% we would expect for SUVs of its age and mileage here. If you may sell within three years, buy that instead. The Nissan Patrol is cheaper and strong mechanically, 11% showing an engine, gearbox, suspension or steering fault against 19% expected for the same class. The Yukon's case is the cabin, the boot behind the third row and the V8.

2021 is the line to be on the right side of. The Yukon was fully redesigned for that model year, and the important change was under the back: independent rear suspension in place of a live axle, which transformed the ride and freed up third-row and boot space. Mid-last-decade cars look similar and cost far less, but they are a different vehicle to sit in.

It holds exactly what the class holds, about 46% of its value after five years, and better than the wider GMC range manages.
