Frequently asked questions

A 2025 MG 5 has averaged AED 35,000 in our UAE sales and a 2022 AED 20,000. Those land alongside an equivalent-age Corolla or Civic, so the case for the MG is the equipment you get at the money rather than a lower sticker. Live asking prices run from AED 34,000 for an early car of the current run up to AED 34,000 for a current-year one, roughly 31% below the price of a new MG 5.

Better than the brand's reputation suggests. Not one of the MG 5s we inspect in the UAE has shown a mechanical fault — 0% against the 7% we would expect for sedans of the same age and mileage in the country — at a median of about 58,000 km. What the report earns its keep on here is trim and electrical detail: switches, sensors and interior fit, where cost-driven build shows first.

  • Warranty balance — MG's cover is long and transfers with the car.
  • Electrical switches and sensors, one by one.
  • Interior trim fit and rattles over rough surfaces.
  • Tyres; low-cost original fitments wear early.

Open the CarSwitch inspection report on any MG 5 in our UAE listings before you offer — on a budget car the electrical and trim sections are where the money hides.

Buy on warranty and mileage, not on year. This is the second-generation MG 5, launched at the start of the 2020s, and it has run since with equipment and trim revisions rather than a platform or engine change. There is no generation line to cross, so later cars matter mainly because MG's factory warranty is long and often still live.

The Toyota Corolla costs similar money and is the safer long-term bet — parts everywhere and a workshop on every street. The MG 6 sits below the 5 in the range here, but 91% of the ones we inspect carry evidence of prior body or panel repair against the 58% expected for its own age and mileage group. The Nissan Sentra is the other value sedan, at 87% against 72% for that group. On inspection findings the 5 is the cleanest of the three.
