Plan on AED 86500 for a car from the model's first years up to AED 360000 for one from mid-decade. Specification swings that hard — air suspension, big wheels and the driver-assistance packs were all options.

The record here is as clean as we see on a big premium SUV. None of the Audi Q8s we inspect in the UAE have arrived with a fault in the engine, gearbox, suspension or steering, against the 12% we would expect for large SUVs of the same age and mileage here, and none show interior staining against an expected 23%. That is not a family trait: the Audi Q7 shows a mechanical fault on 35% against an expected 24%.

The Range Rover Sport is similar money and shows body or panel repair on 53% of inspections against the 65% expected for SUVs of its age and mileage here. The BMW X5 costs less and drives more sharply. The Q8 takes the inspection record and the interior.
