During the 1990s, Honda shifted its focus from coupes and sedans to recreational cars such as Honda CR-V and Honda Odyssey. In 1999, Honda Insight became the first hybrid car to be released in the US. Today, many hybrid electric and plug-in electric Honda cars are available.

Over the years, Honda cars have competed and make their mark in many motorsport events like IndyCar, Super GT, MotoGO, as well as Formula One. In 2006, the company set up the Honda Aircraft Company, which began delivering aircrafts in 2015.
