In the UAE, we love our fast cars, don’t we? Whether it’s a new car buzzing past us on the Sheikh Zayed Road or a treasured used car, UAE; we can’t help but admire them. If you love fast cars then probably one of the questions that has crossed your mind must be “What is the fastest car in the world?”. Well, buckle up folks because here’s the answer!

As of 2017, the fastest car in the world is the Bugatti Chiron with a maximum speed of 288 mph. Successor to the famous Bugatti Veyron, previously the fastest car in the world, the Chiron beats its predecessor by a solid 35mph on top speed. Cranking out a whopping 1479 bhp and 1180 lb-ft torque, we wouldn’t have expected any less from this bad boy!  Want to learn about the top five fastest cars in the world? Take a look.

Bugatti Chiron’s other numbers are impressive as well. If we use the hypercar metrics, the Chiron can make the 0-124 mph dash in 6.5 seconds. Only 500 units will ever be built and 250 of those have already been sold. So if you plan on buying one, better order it soon. Bear in mind though that’s it going to be heavy on the purse, a Dh10 million-plus kind of heavy! Top Gear’s Chris Harris took the Bugatti Chiron for a test drive on the famous Jebel Hafeet Road? Check out the full story on Top Gear Magazine.

Reaching a top speed of 270.49 mph, the Hennessey Venom GT is officially the fastest car in the world. For the Chiron to be officially declared the world’s fastest car, we will have to wait until 2018 when it takes its test for Guinness World Records. For now, it’s electronically limited to 261 mph, but as Top Gear put it into perspective, that speed is 23 times faster than the speed at which the Lunar Rover went during Apollo 17.
