According to a report by the KPMG, UAE is among the top 10 countries that are ready to accept driverless vehicles for the third consecutive year. CarSwitch.com, an online marketplace to sell car in Dubai, did some research to share the details with you.
The third edition of the Autonomous Vehicles Readiness Index (AVRI) evaluated the agreeableness of 30 countries worldwide and UAE came at the 8th position. This was up one place from last year’s rankings.
The UAE ranks ahead of Denmark and the United Kingdom but is listed after South Korea, Finland, Singapore, Netherlands, United States, Norway and Sweden.
The AVRI assesses the level of openness of different countries to driverless technology, adoption and the progression in making autonomous cars a reality.
The main factors in deciding a country’s readiness to further AV development is legislation, policy, innovation, technology, consumer preparedness and infrastructure.
Autonomous cars are likely to evolve the future of transportation and their adoption may increase exponentially. The UAE government has also launched initiatives to advance smart technology.
“Given the nation’s strong investment in artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, 5G and maintaining good-quality infrastructure, the UAE is well on its way to achieving its goal of a future where the use of AVs becomes mainstream on its roads,” said Ravi Suri, Partner, Global Head of Infrastructure Finance, KPMG Lower Gulf.
As part of its vision to become one of the most technologically advanced nations in the world, it seems that UAE is prepared to embrace autonomous technology.
