German luxury vehicles and motorcycle manufacturer Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, also known as BMW, is a worldwide company with headquarters in Munich, Bavaria. The business was established in 1916 to make airplane engines, which it did from 1917 to 1918 and once more from 1933 to 1945.

BMW produces vehicles not just in Germany but also in Brazil, China, India, Mexico, the Netherlands, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States. With the public owning the remaining shares, the Quandt family has been a longtime shareholder of the business since the Quandt brothers’ investments in 1959 saved BMW from bankruptcy.

Before the larger X7 and subsequently the iX arrived, the BMW X5 and X6 served as the German brand’s SUV flagships for a considerable amount of time. However, BMW’s success with SUVs continues, and the X5 and X6 models from 2024 will keep things interesting. The new SUVs receive some exterior improvements and introduce certain engine modifications.

At CarSwitch, you can dive into a world of luxury and explore the latest offerings used cars in the UAE. With a wide range of BMW models including popular ones like the X5 and X6, you can discover your dream luxury vehicle with ease.

BMW X5:

A mid-size luxury SUV that is built by BMW is called the X5. The X5 E53 made its debut in 1999. BMW’s first SUV. When it first debuted, it had all-wheel drive and a choice of automatic or manual gearbox.

Instead of calling the X5 an SUV, BMW officially marketed it as a “Sports Activity Vehicle” (SAV) to emphasize how maneuverable it was on the road despite its size. Body-on-frame building was phased out with the release of the X5 in preference for a more sophisticated monocoque chassis design. The BMW X5, which launched more than a year before the Mercedes-Benz M-Class, was the first to adopt a monocoque chassis. Up until the second generation, the M-Class utilized body-on-frame construction.

What’s New for 2024?

The 2024 BMW X5 variants are as practical and captivating as ever with strong new interior and exterior styling and optional remote-control parking.

For 2024, BMW has refined the X5’s look with a new front grille and bumper, fresh headlamps and taillamps, and modernized wheels. Quad tailpipes, gloss-black external highlights, and a M logo in the grille are all features of the top-spec M60i variant.

A new 48-volt hybrid system benefits both the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 and the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engines, and the six-cylinder has been further tweaked to increase output to 375 horsepower. Although the performance-oriented model’s nomenclature has changed from M50i to M60i, its 523 horsepower has not.

The xDrive50e plug-in hybrid model, which offers 94 more horsepower and 10 more miles of electric-only driving range than the xDrive45e plug-in hybrid model from last year, provides 483 horsepower and 40 miles of EV driving. BMW’s most recent iDrive 8 user interfaces, which is already slated for an update to iDrive 8.5 sometime in the summer of 2023, is also included in all X5 models. Highway Assistant, a hands-free driving technology that we first experienced in the new 7-series premium luxury sedan, is now also offered on the X5.

BMW X6:

The X6 is the name given to BMW’s mid-size luxury crossover SUV. The sporting activity coupé (SAC), which takes its name from its sloping rear roof style, was first introduced by the BMW X6.

It combines the attributes of an SUV: high ground clearance, all-wheel drive and weather capability, large wheels and Tyres, and coupé style with a sloping roof. Alongside the BMW X5, whose basis it shares, it is constructed in Greer, South Carolina at the BMW North American facility. The X6 was regarded as BMW’s premier SUV before the X7 was introduced.

What’s New for 2024?

With upgraded wheels, a new 48-volt hybrid system, a new front grille and bumper, new headlamps and taillamps, and more power for the base engine, BMW gives the X6 a makeover for 2024. The 3.0-liter inline-six turbocharged engine in the X6 now produces up to 375 horsepower, but the 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V-8’s 523 horsepower is unchanged for this year.

If we talk about the outstanding visuals, the 2024 BMW X5 and X6 receive new front bumpers and slimmer headlamps for aesthetic reasons. The X6 already has an illuminated grill, but the X5 can get one as an option. The X6 comes with the M Sport package as standard equipment, which enhances its looks. There are numerous new body colors available.

A 12.3-inch infotainment display and a 14.9-inch digital instrument cluster are separated by a sizable piece of curved glass. Additionally, a 15-color ambient light bar is added to the interior.

The optional Driver Assistance Professional Package includes a new Highway Assistant feature present in both X5 and X6. With this device, drivers can travel up to 137 kph on some highways without holding the wheel. Up to 200 meters of driving are recorded by the Parking Assistant feature. This enables the driver to use the My BMW App to call the parked car to them.

The eight-speed automatic gearbox that comes standard with all engines has been upgraded for smoother shifts. A Sprint setting included in an optional M Sport package optimizes the gearbox and powertrain for speed.
