The formula for a budget SUV in the UAE
Shop for used SUVs in the AED 15,000–50,000 range, focus on models from 2018–2019, and know that there are more SUVs listed than buyers searching for them right now. That gap gives you room to talk the price down — on models in this bracket, we’ve seen roughly 7–8% come off asking. Here’s the data behind it.
The short version
- SUVs make up about 63% of listings but only 49% of buyer searches — more supply than demand means more room to negotiate.
- A 2019 Kia Sportage lists around AED 48,000 — about 59% less than it cost new.
- A 2019 Ford EcoSport lists around AED 19,500 — roughly 73% off its original sticker.
- Base-spec models run about 7% less than fully loaded ones for the same car — consider skipping the extras.
- Prices across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah are within about 1–2% of each other, so shop wherever is convenient.
Why used SUVs in the UAE are a buyer’s market right now
According to CarSwitch listings data (July 2026), SUVs account for about 63% of all cars listed on the platform. But only about 49% of buyer searches are for SUVs. That 14-point gap means sellers are competing harder for your attention.
“There are simply more SUVs sitting on the market than there are people actively looking for them. If you’re buying, that works in your favour.”
Ramiz Islam, Head of Marketing at CarSwitch
What does that mean in practice? On budget-friendly SUVs specifically, we’ve seen prices come down by around 7–8% from asking. On some listings, that figure has been closer to 13%. It depends on the model, the year and how long it’s been listed.
Five budget SUVs under AED 60,000 worth a closer look
These are models that show up regularly among used cars in uae under 10000 searches and budget SUV filters. All figures come from what’s actually listed on CarSwitch right now.
1. Ford EcoSport 2019 — around AED 19,500
This is one of the steepest value drops we track. A 2019 EcoSport listed at about AED 19,500 is roughly 73% less than its new price of about AED 72,000. Most have around 145,000 km on them. It’s a compact crossover — fine for city driving and tight parking in Dubai.
2. Ford EcoSport 2018 — around AED 26,500
One year older, but interestingly it lists for more than the 2019. That likely comes down to spec and condition. At about 63% off new, it’s still a strong saving. Odometers sit around 100,000 km — noticeably lower than the 2019s.
3. Kia Sportage 2018 — around AED 38,500
The Sportage holds its value better than the EcoSport, but an eight-year-old one still goes for about 67% less than a new model. It’s a bigger car with more cabin space, and at about 111,000 km these still have life in them. Kia’s reputation for reliability helps here.
4. Kia Sportage 2019 — around AED 48,000
A year newer gets you lower mileage (around 90,000 km) and roughly 59% off the new price. If you’re stretching toward the top of a budget, this is one of the better-rounded choices for families shopping for used cars in dubai.
5. Ford EcoSport 2022 — around AED 43,000
Only four years old with about 52,000 km. You’re paying about 41% less than new. It’s the freshest option on this list and the one most likely to still feel current inside. A solid pick if you want something newer without the new-car price tag.

How fast do these SUVs lose value?
Compact crossovers as a group hold their value reasonably well in the first couple of years — still worth about 90% of a one-year-old example after two years. By year four, that drops to about 75%. Mid-size SUVs lose value a little faster early on, keeping about 80% after two years and roughly 69% by year four.
The sweet spot for budget buyers? Around the five-to-seven-year mark. That’s where the biggest chunk of value has already dropped, but the car still has plenty of useful life. A 2019 Sportage, for instance, retains only about 53% of what a one-year-old example would cost.
| Model | Year | Listing Price (AED) | New Price (AED) | Saving vs New | Typical KM |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ford EcoSport | 2019 | 19,500 | 72,345 | 73% | 145,300 |
| Ford EcoSport | 2018 | 26,495 | 72,345 | 63% | 99,620 |
| Kia Sportage | 2018 | 38,500 | 117,625 | 67% | 111,323 |
| Ford EcoSport | 2022 | 42,995 | 72,345 | 41% | 52,012 |
| Kia Sportage | 2019 | 48,000 | 117,625 | 59% | 89,549 |
SUVs: 63% of listings vs 49% of buyer searches — supply outpaces demand by 14 points.
Ford EcoSport 2019: 73% cheaper than new (AED 52,845 saved).
Base-spec SUVs list for about 7% less than fully loaded versions of the same model.
Tips to get fair value on a budget SUV
Go base spec if the price matters more than the sunroof
Across the SUVs we list, base models run about 7% less than fully loaded versions. That’s a real saving — on a AED 40,000 car, that’s close to AED 3,000. Semi-loaded splits the difference at about 4% less.
Check the accident history
Cars with a minor accident on record list for about 9% less than clean-history ones. That can be a fair trade if the repair was done properly — every car on CarSwitch is inspection-verified so you’ll know exactly what happened. Cars with major incidents show a smaller gap in listing prices, but they carry more risk long-term.
Don’t chase city differences
Prices in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah are within about 1% of each other on a like-for-like basis. Not worth a drive across emirates to save AED 400. Shop wherever suits you across the cities we operate in.
Consider what sits next to SUVs
If the SUV shape isn’t a must-have, sedans make up about 28% of listings and often cost less to maintain. But if you need the ground clearance and cabin height — and most UAE families do — the budget SUV numbers above show there’s plenty of value on the table.
