Audi has revealed the next-generation A3 Saloon and it’s mostly the same as the A3 Sportback. Although the new ride is an incremental update over its predecessor, it looks more like a coupe. CarSwitch.com, an online marketplace for used cars in Sharjah did some research to share the details with you.

Audi A3 Saloon Engine And Performance

At present, there are three choices. First is the 1.5-litre 35 TFSI which is mated with a manual six-speed gearbox and churns out 148bhp. Then, we have the 35 TDI diesel unit with the auto ‘box which delivers the same bhp and gives you 62mpg. Lastly, there is the 1.5-litre petrol 35 TFSI Sport automatic which is paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system for a torque and fuel efficiency bump. It will get 50mpg. This one will only be available if you also opt for the S tronic seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The car also offers drive-assist features. Thanks to a large diffuser and a higher rear end, aerodynamics have improved. There is a controllable cooling-air inlet with two louvre modules to regulate the airflow per the situation.

Audi says the new saloon is sportier and more precise than the outgoing model. That’s because of the new dynamic handling system which makes sure all components interact optimally. There is a sport suspension version as well as a suspension with adaptive dampers.

Audi A3 Saloon Exterior

The car features ‘Matrix’ LED headlamps and looks more proportional than the previous A3 Saloon. It’s longer, wider, and taller than its predecessor. It is based on the same upgraded MBQ platform as the latest Volkswagen Golf. The new platform is lighter but more rigid than the previous one.

Audi A3 Saloon Interior

Thanks to a lower seating position, front-seat passengers now get more headroom. Luggage space remains the same at 425-litres.

Audi is now calling the cabin a virtual cockpit and it has gone digital with a touch-screen and other technologies. You get it with a 10.25-inch digital instrument screen and a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen. The centre console features a sensory volume controller that responds to circular finger movements.

All models feature a smartphone interface and both Apple CarPlay or Android Auto are supported. There is a new infotainment platform which is 10 times more powerful when it comes to computing when compared to the last one. Not only will you get access to navigation, but a Wi-Fi hotspot will also provide internet access. Audi connect services will also be available. Later on, Amazon Alexa digital assistant is also coming. The car also features dual-zone climate control.

Deliveries are expected to start in July and the entry-level model will likely set you back AED 118,460.
