1. Pick a shaded spot
Parking in a shaded area is the most obvious solution. However, it is not always easy to find shade. In such a situation, your smart parking skills will come in handy. It is best to park in a way that the sun is facing the back of your car. This way, the back of your car will heat up while the steering wheel, seats and dashboard will be relatively cooler.
2. Use a reflective windscreen sun shield
Consider investing in a professional windscreen sun shield, which make use of reflective coatings to obstruct heat and UV rays. It will help prevent the plastic from cracking as well as maintain a lower temperature in the cabin.
3. Leave slight gaps in the windows
Cracking open a window slightly will do wonders for your car’s temperature. Ideally, open the window by an inch or so on either side to help cool down the temperature via ventilation. But keep in mind that if you do this and there’s a dust/sand storm or rain, then you might have to deal with a lot more than just heat when you open the door of your car.
4. Leave the door open for a few seconds
This is probably the easiest one to do of the lot. Before getting into your car, simply wait outside for a period of 60 to 80 seconds. Doing so will remove the hot air from your vehicle.
5. Use a damp cloth
Sprinkle some water on a piece of cloth and use it to cool down the steering wheel and gear knob. This will have an immediate cooling effect.
6. Switch on the air conditioner immediately
The first thing you should do after entering the car is to switch on the air conditioner. If your car is parked in a shaded area, consider waiting for a few seconds after switching on the air conditioner and sit down once the temperature has become bearable.
