The facelift of the 2020 Hyundai Sonata was revealed just a while ago and now the hybrid version of this car has also been unveiled. The solar roof of the new Sonata a daily charging of 6 hours. Hence, it can generate electricity for 1,300 km of extra range per year.
Moreover, the Sonata Hybrid will also feature Active Shift Control (ASC). Hyundai claims that they are the pioneers of this technology. The ASC technology uses new control logic software to connect to the hybrid control unit (HCU). The HCU aligns the engines rotational speed with transmission which results in 30% lower gear shift times. Therefore, it results in improved performance, better fuel economy and increases durability by decreasing friction through lesser gear shift times.
The 2020 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is powered by a “Smartstream” 2.0L 4 cylinder which pushes out 152 hp and 188 Nm of torque. It gets an additional 51 hp and 250 Nm of torque through its electric motor. In total, the Sonata will produce a total output of 192 hp.
As per the Hyundai, the 2020 Sonata provides excellent fuel efficiency with 20.1 km/liter. With its set of 16-inch wheels, it translates to 4.97 litres/100 km. However, if you opt for 17-inch wheels, the fuel economy drops to 19.1 km/liter (5.23 liters/100 km).
Along with the Sonata makeover, Hyundai also announced the introduction of Hyundai Palisade in the UAE as its flagship SUV in 2020. Moreover, Hyundai has also announced the introduction of more sporty N Line models for the Sonata in the near future.
With many automakers focusing on electric cars, Sonata’s shift to a hybrid was almost inevitable.
