Who would have thought that car logos hide a story? Did you know that these iconic logos have hidden meanings? Some logos reflects the company’s history or their vision. With others, it’s an entirely different story and there’s a whole thought process behind it. CarSwitch brings you their stories. So, the next time you spot a different logo while in the market for used cars for sale in Dubai, UAE, you will know the story.

Audi

Audi logo

Among the more straight-forward tales is that of Audi. The four rings in the logo simply represent the four companies that merged in 1932 to form Auto Union, Audi’s predecessor. So, a ring each for Audi, Horch, DKW, and Wanderer.

Hyundai

Now this one took us completely by surprise! If you have seen Hyundai’s logo and thought to yourself “Oh yeah, that’s clearly an ‘H’ for Hyundai”, don’t worry, you are not alone. We were in the same boat until we learned that the logo actually symbolizes two people shaking hands (the client and a representative of the company). Who knew?

Toyota

Toyota logo

The Toyota logo is layered with hidden meanings. The two overlapping ovals inside represent a stylized T and a steering wheel. It also represents how the customer’s expectations (horizontal) and the manufacturer’s ideal (vertical) are interlocked to form a T. The outer oval represents the world embracing Toyota.

Then there’s the theory that the logo represents a stylized image of the eye of a needle with a thread passing through it. A nod to Toyota’s past as a company that used to produce weaving machines. Also, did you know that you can spell out Toyota using just the logo? Try it now!

BMW

BMW logo

No, that’s not a spinning airplane propellor, folks! It’s the symbol of the Bavarian flag. Well, sort of. Since it’s illegal to use national symbols in a commercial trademark, BMW came up with this variation instead, using the blue and white colors in a different order representing the Bavarian Free State.

Lamborghini

Lamborghini logo

That looks like one angry bull, doesn’t it? This iconic bull stands for Ferruccio Lamborghini’s zodiac sign, Tauras. Rumor has it he was also a bullfighting enthusiast. Talk about killing two birds with one stone!

Mercedes

Mercedez logo

The three-pointed star is intended to represent Mercedes’ domination in three areas, the land, the air and the sea. It’s bold and it’s simple! Back in the day, Mercedes made engines for automobiles, airplanes, and ships. Their ambition is to make transportation easier on land, air, and sea. Respect! Tying in with their goals is this king of off-road SUVs

Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi logo

‘Mitsu’ means three in Japanese while ‘Hishi (pronounced Bishi)’ refers to a diamond or rhombus shaped water chestnut plant. The logo is actually a combination of two family crests. That’s a new one!

Subaru

Subaru logo

For Subaru, the sky’s the limit! And that sentiment is reflected in their logo as well. In Japanese language, Subaru means ‘united’ and is also the name for the Pleiades star cluster. It’s visible in the night sky and has been guiding travelers for generations. The six stars in the logo might also represent the six companies that united to form Fuji Heavy Industries, the parent company of Subaru.

Maserati

Maserati logo

As the story goes, the company was founded by the three Maserati brothers. So, it fell to the fourth brother to design the logos. Drawing inspiration from the statue of the Roman god Neptune in the Piazza Maggiore in Bologna, he went for a trident adding red and blue colors to acknowledge that city.

Ferrari

Ferrari logo

Synonymous with sports cars and speed is this prancing black horse on a yellow background. The prancing horse emblem was used to honor WWI’s heroic fighter pilot, Francesco Baracca who had the same logo on his plane. Enzo Ferrari, the famous Italian race car driver after whom the company is named, painted this logo on his car as a good luck charm and later added the yellow background to symbolize his home city of Modena.

So, now you know! That means when you are searching for used cars for sale in Dubai, UAE and come across a different logo, you will hopefully give it a second thought. On CarSwitch you can find all the above mentioned used car brands and more. Happy logo hunting!
