Ferrari is adding not only serious game but also a shock to its new cars for sale line up with the announcement of their hybrid SUV.
Since the brand is so tied to motorsports, avid fans never thought they would see the day where a Ferrari SUV came into being. But due to high profitability in the sport-utes department, it is finally launching its Ferrari Purosangue. Rumoured to unveil in 2022, the latest addition to Ferrari’s offerings start at prices as high as $350,000.
The name – Purosangue – is Italian for “thoroughbred” or “pure blood.” The vehicle will house a new front-engine GT platform as well as take some features from the conventional Ferrari vehicles.
Michael Leiters, Ferrari’s Chief Technical Officer, comes with exciting news for Ferrari fans. What is known as the 175 within Ferrari’s internal workings, the Purosangue serves as a thoroughbred SUV. He says,
“I think we’ve found a concept and a package which is on one side a real SUV and will convince SUV customers to buy it, but on the other side there’s a huge differentiation of concept to existing SUVs.”
Engine
Even though it is too soon to state the exact features, the Purosangue might employ turbocharged V-6, V-8 or V-12 engine like the mighty Ferrari SF90 Stradale. It is likely that an array of options will be offered to the customers, but the fierce V-12 engine will dominate the public purchase.
It will also house three fully electric motors, all at varying axles: two at the front axle and one at the rear transaxle.
Power
There is no doubt that the Purosangue will be powerful. By 2022, it will enter into the ultimate competition for the best horsepower. It will rival against the 600 hp Bentley Bentayga, the 641 hp Lamborghini Urus, and the Aston Martin DBX with a V-8 engine.
Braking system
Its brake body design will not be anything like the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso. Instead, it will be Ferrari’s turn of the generation engine platform cars.
Ride
It will definitely be an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) with an electrified hybrid system.
Interior
Pictures of the interior have not been revealed yet, so the cabin of the Purosangue can not be imagined. However, fans can expect a driver-centred layout with seats for four adults and a medium-sized cargo bay.
With steep competition in the car world, it is very likely that the SUV will have touchscreen infotainment, leather seats, and real carbon-fibre trim.
