Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, officially signed the new regulations. The new regulations are designed to make Dubai roads even safer and will cover various violations with penalties, including fines, black points and even impounding of vehicles. - Under the new rules, drivers who violate the traffic rules will face a fine of up to AED 3000 and their vehicles will be impounded for up to three months. Reckless drivers also beware! They will be faced with AED 2000 fine, 23 black points on their license and impounding of the vehicle for 60 days. The same punishment and fines apply to drivers who endanger the lives of others.
- Are you driving a car without a number plate? Get ready to be fined with AED 3000 and 23 black points on your license. And don’t be surprised if your vehicle is impounded for 90 days.
- Drivers of heavy vehicles also pay attention! If they drive in a way that endangers the life of others, be ready to be slapped with a fine of AED 3000. That’s not the only punishment they get. Their license will also be suspended for a period of one year.
- And now we come to the all-important car speeding fines. After all, we have all done it at some point! Now, exceeding the speed limit by 80 km/h will incur a fine of AED 3000, 23 black points and the vehicle being impounded for 60 days. Cross the speed limit by 60km/h and you will be fined with AED 2000, your car confiscated for 30 days and 12 black points on your license. So better keep your speeds in check!
- Drivers caught under the influence of drug or alcohol will be taken to court, their license will be suspended for a year and their vehicle impounded for sixty days.
