The trend to buy a greener car for sale is gaining traction as fuel-economy regulations tighten globally and more and more carmakers are making the push towards hybrids and EVs. The latest company planning to jump on the bandwagon is Bentley, although you will have to wait a few years before you can actually buy those models.
By 2023, All Bentley Cars Will Also Come In Hybrid Variants
Bentley Continental GT
Bentley says that by 2023, all of its cars will also be sold in a hybrid flavour. And, ultimately by 2025, the company plans to launch a full-fledged electric model. The British luxury automaker already sells the Bentayga hybrid, which is a plug-in variant of its SUV that is available in the U.S. with 8- and 12-cylinder gasoline engines and internationally it is also sold with a diesel engine.
As for the upcoming hybrids, no time frame has been given, so we will have to wait and see how that unrolls. We can expect hybrid models of the latest Continental GT couple, the Flying Super sedan, and Mulsane in the near future. Bentley will also most likely reveal more about its plans in the future so consumers can have more clarity.
The Electric Vehicle Will Make A Debut In 2025
Of course, the most awaited vehicle is the company’s first electric car, which won’t be here until 2025. According to Bentley’s sales and marketing boss Chris Craft, the EV will help the manufacturer meet emissions regulations. Moreover, this new direction is also said to bode well with the automaker’s vibe. Craft says that since electric vehicles’ instant torque offers strong acceleration, it matches with just what the British carmaker’s offerings are known for. He further added that the EV lineup will offer sustainable grand touring to Bentley’s customers.

Craft also says that 35 percent of the company’s luxury customers are interested in electric cars and thus the manufacturer definitely believes that there is a market for electric Bentleys. It goes without saying that it won’t be a problem for the company to meet that demand. Electric vehicles are costly to make and many car makers do not keep a wide margin on them. However, for luxury carmakers, it’s much easier to recover the R&D cost.
