Audi revealed the E-Tron Sportback during the 2019 LA Auto Show. The car will be available in two variants: the Sportback 50 and the Sportback 55. It will go on sale in Europe and the USA in the first half of 2020. However, if you’re eager to sell your car in Dubai to grab an E-tron, we’re not sure when it will make its way to the UAE.
Powertrain & Range
Many fans have been excited since it was revealed that the Audi E-tron will be coming soon. After all, it’s the perfect combination of coupe styling and SUV usability. The specced-out variant of the electric car is underpinned by dual electric motors. It offers a power output of 265kW, which is roughly 350 horsepower. It will offer a range of up to 446 kilometers or 277 miles with a 95kWh battery pack. The thermal management improvements have made it possible to charge and discharge the pack without affecting its long-term reliability.
Styling & Interior
The roofline of the car is like that of a coupe which makes it more efficient. However, the smoother airflow comes with a tradeoff: the headroom for the second-row passengers has been reduced by 20 millimeters. The E-Tron Sportback offers 21.7 cubic feet of storage, and if you fold the rear seats, it can be increased to 58.4 which is slightly lesser than the regular E-tron.
The E-Tron Sportback has a lot in common with last year’s E-Tron SUV, including the interior. Inside, there is a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, nestled behind the steering wheel. A 12.1-inch display is etched in the dashboard. And lastly, there is an 8.6-inch touchscreen below the 12.1-inch screen for climate controls and text input. The car also features Amazon Alexa, which means you can control the infotainment system with voice commands as well.
The European variant of the car will also have virtual mirrors. These mirrors are adjustable according to different driving situations. Additionally, the braking efficiency has also been improved.
The E-Tron Sportback comes with LED matrix headlights which can dynamically light up the road with extreme precision. This system is made possible by a tiny chip that has one million micromirrors. It uses electrostatic fields to tilt up to 5,000 times per second. In addition to illuminating the road, these headlights can also project images such as welcome animations.
When the E-Tron Sportback is launched in Europe, a limited edition One variant will also be available with additions such as 21-inch wheels. Audi has already started taking pre-orders for the car. It surely is one of the cars to look forward to in 2020! We can’t wait to see it in the UAE.
It will start at around £79,000 (nearly AED 323,000) in the UK, although the pricing details for US remain uncovered.
