Owners of used cars in Dubai know how frustrating traffic can be on Sheikh Zayed Road. The good (and bad) news is that the Roads and Transportation Authority (RTA) has announced that a new Salik gate has been set up on the route to Abu Dhabi just after Ibn Battuta Mall.

This gate aims to help ease the flow of traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road as well as in Downtown Dubai. Additionally, it will promote the use of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Road, which is an alternative route.

This toll gate is expected to generate a huge amount of revenue (approximately Dh300 million) as motorists will be charged DH4 whenever they pass the gate. This will of course be an additional expense for drivers in Dubai, unless they opt for the alternative roads in and out of the city.

Additionally, to further ease the traffic situation, the 7th interchange on Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Yalayis Road Improvement Project will hopefully be completed by 15th September. The expectation is to redirect the incoming traffic from Abu Dhabi to Yalayis Road and towards the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates road.

The toll gate is expected to be up and running in the next few weeks. This means that the progress to improve Dubai’s car traffic congestion has started.

With all these improvements, we hope the traffic will be flowing more swiftly in Dubai, UAE. This should inspire you to look for used cars Dubai.
