The hatchback segment does not have many enticing options to choose from. Unless its a used Mini Cooper for sale (which is not that economical), all the others are not that appealing and mostly stick to the basics. On the other hand, the all-new Peugeot adds some flavor to segment with its latest entrant – 2019 Peugeot 208.

Taking inspiration from its older sibling, the 508 sedan, the 208 has a unique grille. Along with that, it is decorated with LED lights and the signature tiger claw design which uplifts the look of the hatch. Sitting underneath it are 17-inch wheels and to add it is a black roof to complement the body color.
The transition of this new model to the Common Modular Platform (CMP) makes it 30kgs lighter than before. This is not just good for performance but also helps to improve the aerodynamics of the car.
The interior of this latest car has a modern i-cockpit which revitalizes its appeal making it look more stylish and futuristic. Moreover, its interior packs a touchscreen in sizes 5-,7- and 10- inches. With lesser physical controls, the 208 has more advanced technology and admirable on the fun factor as well. Additionally gloss black accents are joined with faux carbon fiber accents and a flat steering which gives it a more athletic stance.
This subcompact hatch is powered by a 1.2L Turbocharged 3 cylinder engine running on gas and a 1.5L 4 cylinder diesel engine. The gas engine can be paired with a five speed manual with 75hp, 6 speed automatic with 100hp or an 8 speed automatic with a burly 130 hp.
Even more, it also has an electric model which churns out 136 hp and 260 Nm known as the e-208. The electric variant packs a 50 kWH battery covering a reasonable 450 Kms under the NEDC. It has both Sports and Normal mode to make it a good ride for everyday use.
Both of these models are expected to come to the UAE by the end of the year. By the looks of it, seems like this is going to be the new favorite car for sale in Abu Dhabi in its segment. Of course, its price will need to be reasonable as well to provide good value for money.
