A sudden transformation of the sandy plot behind Mazaya Business Avenue has taken the residents in that vicinity by surprise. By the looks of it, people of that area are not pleased and might start pushing some to selling car in Dubai. CarSwitch, whose home is JLT, is tracking developments closely.
Tenants of the Jumeirah Lake Towers have been using the area for parking their Dubai used cars regularly. A notice was put in place some days ago on the prohibition of free parking in that area starting from January 13th. Barsha Heights also has paid parking now and it seems that free parking across Dubai might be abolished.
On Sunday morning, motorists had to go through long tailbacks due to disorientation in the said area. The car owners claim that the sandy plot also known as JLT Embankment had all entrances shut except one of the far right which was a major cause for concern.
Only a few cars had the permission to go in whereas others had to look for other parking spots. It is also a concern for the OakField Early Learning Center for a number of reasons. Firstly, as the parking is not available for parents now which can cause a lot of distress during peak hours. Secondly, it can be a problem considering the safety of children as the allotment of the connecting spaces will most likely be to offices nearby.
Moreover, residents have queries on visitor parking and access for emergency vehicles. Additionally, questions arise regarding the services that the citizens will get in return. Also, whether the parking authorization is per number plate or per vehicle.
Most importantly, occupants are not happy by the hefty fee they will have to pay for the parking: AED 820 for three months.
That said, the free zone authority, Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) is making an effort to answer these problems. The JLT embankment will now be in the hands of Concordia. This action has been taken to cater to the heath, access and safety issues due to free parking.
Furthermore, it is also an effort to ensure that emergency access is in place by clearing the building from the back side. It also ensured that the pick up and drop off zones will remain intact.
To add to that, there are RTA’s free parking areas across the community. This includes parking zones opposite Mazaya Business Avenue which already has parking facilities for visitors. Also, further plans include assigning parking spots for visitors in order to not affect businesses nearby.
Nonetheless, lets see how this goes. Though, its better to pave the plot at least otherwise car owners will need to work on reducing sand damage to their cars.
Seeing the current parking situation, people might consider selling car and opting for public transportation as a better option. If you are looking for a platform on which you can buy or sell a car in the easiest possible way, visit CarSwitch.com and you won’t be disappointed.
