Public parking will be free for drivers of used car in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in celebration of the Islamic New Year. According to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), no parking fees will be charged at all parking areas except multi-level car parks.
The Integrated Transport Centre in Abu Dhabi also waived fees for all parking bays across the Emirate.
UAE’s Human Resources Authority stated that all public and private sectors would be closed at the start of the Islamic New Year, Muharram 1.
The authorities urged the public to refrain from parking in prohibited areas and also stated that citizens must observe all traffic and parking rules on the said day.
During the holiday, metro stations on the Red Line will operate from 5am to 12am whereas the Green Light will operate from 5:30am to 12am.
Customer happiness centre will remain closed on Sunday. The Smart Customer Happiness Centres at Umm Al Ramool in Dubai, however, will operate 24/7 as per usual. Additionally, bus services will continue to operate as per their routine schedule.
