1. Reset your car tyre pressure for cooler asphalt
Hotter roads mean higher tyre pressure. If you (or your garage) added a few PSI in June to compensate, it’s time to bring it back down. Check the sticker on your driver’s door jamb for the manufacturer’s recommended cold pressure. Over-inflated tyres on cooler tarmac wear unevenly and grip less in morning dew.
Do this on a morning when the car has sat overnight. It takes five minutes at any petrol station.
2. Flush the coolant — heat breaks it down faster than you’d think
Coolant (the green or pink fluid in your radiator) contains chemicals that prevent corrosion. After a full UAE summer of 50°C-plus days, those chemicals degrade faster than the two-year interval most people follow. If your coolant hasn’t been replaced since last autumn, get it flushed now. A full coolant flush at most garages in Dubai costs between AED 150 and AED 350.
Dark or cloudy coolant is already overdue. Don’t wait for the temperature gauge to tell you there’s a problem.
3. Replace your car wipers before winter fog rolls in
UAE fog season runs roughly from November through February. Those mornings where visibility drops to a few car lengths are no time to discover your wipers are streaking across the glass instead of clearing it. Rubber hardens and cracks in summer UV. New blades cost AED 40–80 for most cars, and you can fit them yourself in under a minute.
While you’re at it, top up the washer fluid. A dusty windshield plus worn wipers plus no fluid is a visibility hazard.
4. Load-test the battery — summer heat is the real killer
Most people associate dead batteries with cold weather. In the UAE, it’s the opposite. Extreme heat accelerates the chemical reaction inside the battery, evaporating electrolyte and corroding the internal plates. By October, a battery that was fine in April could be running at half capacity.
A load test takes about 10 minutes at any auto-electrical shop and usually costs under AED 50. If the battery tests below 75% capacity, replace it now rather than getting stranded at a parking lot in Mall of the Emirates.

If that door’s motor has seized, you won’t find out until a chilly January morning. Turn the climate to full heat for five minutes and check that warm air comes from every vent.
This is also a good moment to replace the cabin air filter. After an entire summer of dust, sand, and construction particles, it’s likely clogged. A new one costs AED 30–80 and takes five minutes to swap.
