Certain cars are so well-liked by consumers that they remain popular for decades. However, while some of them are updated in accordance with the changing times, some fail to keep up with the changing automotive standards. Here are five cars that we believe must be taken off the market this year and their owners should sell car in Abu Dhabi for another make or model!
1. Toyota Land Cruiser 70
The Toyota Land Cruiser 70 was launched in 1984 and later on got some minor facelifts. However, the global production of the car ended in 1996 but it was still kept on the assembly line in some countries. The J70 is still sold in Australia, where it carries the tagline “still powerful, still indestructible.”
The car is produced in Venezuela, Venezuela, and Japan, but the later has banned the sales of two of the models, GRJ76 and GRJ79, as they do not have Vehicle Skid Control. Despite the minor upgrades that the car got in recent years, the Land Cruiser 70 hasn’t evolved much from its 1984 design.

2. Nissan Junior 140
Launched back in 1956, Nissan continued producing this truck until 1982. However, an Iranian company called Zamyad continues to produce it to this day under the name Z24. The Z24 is the same as the 1970s version of the Nissan Junior 140 and it is about time that it’s taken off the roads.

3. Peugeot 206
The Peugeot 206 made a debut in 1998 and though its successor, the 208 has now come out, the sedan is still being produced. The 206 was produced in Europe for over 14 years before the upgraded 206+ was launched in 2009. The 206 enjoyed popularity in Asia and South America and continued to be produced long after Europe axed it.
The car is still being produced in Iran by a company called IKCO that licensed it in 2001. The 206 has outsold all other Peugeot models and until 2016 it was amongst the top 10 used cars in the UK.

4. Lada Riva
The car was released in the Soviet Union back in 1980 as the VAZ-2105 and later came to be known as the Lada Riva as it made its way to the UK and other European markets. The car is based on the Fiat 124 and it became really popular in Eastern European countries. The car was also exported to other countries, such as Cuba, Canada, and South America.
The Riva exited the Western European markets in 1997 after the emergence of tighter safety and emission controls. Although the production of the car continued in Russia until 2012, it is still being produced in Egypt. In all honesty, Riva is a terrible sedan but continues to strive in Northern Africa because of its affordability.
5. Maruti Gypsy
The Maruti Gypsy is basically the Suzuki SJ30 that is being sold in India. The SJ30 was launched in 1981 by Suzuki and it was the first variant of the second-generation Jimny. Due to its affordability, easy maintenance, and decent road performance, the car is favored by many in India. However, with a lack of standard features such as air conditioning and power steering and a very simplistic suspension, it is just too basic for 2019.
