Borgward was a car manufacturing company founded in 1929 by Carl F. Borgward. It had a broad range of clientele and produces cars for Hansa, Loyd, Goliath as well as its own. At its peak, it employed about 23,000 staff members and managed to churn out more than a million vehicles! Unfortunately, some conspiracies regarding the company’s bankruptcy tainted the brand’s image and they had to close down their operations in 1961.
The company was able to make a comeback in the 21st century, rebranding itself as Borgward AG group. At the 2017 Dubai international motor show, the borgward display included the BX7 and BX5 models that attracted quite the audience! Now, the company has their eyes on the Middle East market via a partnership with their exclusive UAE distributor, Union Motors.
Borgward is making sure that its operations remain as smooth as possible from both the technical and the customer service point of view. To achieve that, it has launched a huge storage facility of spare car parts well ahead of its launch. The Middle East Parts centre is located in the Jebel Ali free zone. It aims to cater to the demands of the GCC market through a 16,000 sq, ft. area and hopes to increase as the demand for Borgward cars increases. The company has also partnered with MaxX logistics to ensure smooth transportation and storage, road transport, door-to-door and project logistic services.
Tom Anliker, Borgward’s vice president said that the “Company’s shift to the GCC is brought about by the customer demand for mid-size and compact SUVs in the area.” He further mentioned that their launch of the warehouse in JAFZA will be a reflection of their serious commitment in becoming a trusted service partner and delivering the best services to their customers.
