It’s official! Rover Defender is making a comeback. If would sell your car in Dubai anytime to get your hands on the new Defender, you’ll be glad to hear that the information and pictures of 2020 Land Rover Defender has been leaked ahead of its release.
First it was a mini image on a dashboard, then it was an image of the front fascia and just when we thought it was over, the specs emerged as well. Land Rover seems to be having a difficult time keeping the new car under wraps. Of course, leaked information on the next-gen Defender was able to gather a lot of attention as well. And why not? The latest Defender is one of the most exciting reveals of 2019.
First and foremost, the image of its instrument cluster with a mini image of the Defender surfaced on an Instagram account. Previously, many people have been skeptical of the Defenders boxy looks in this modern time. By the looks of it, the 2020 Land Rover Defender is still boxy but with a touch of elegance.
This image on the digital instrument cluster shows the squarish wheel arches, a longer wheelbase, a wide C-pillar with glass panels along the rear side and a rear mounted spare wheel. Additionally, this image clearly shows a 4-door SUV though a 2-door version is expected as well.
Soon after this leak, another clearer photo came to surface. This image of the latest Defender shows the front fascia of this legendary off-roader. The new car gets a lean front grille decorated with rectangular headlamp covers and circular lights. This SUV sports black accents on the front just like the previous image with a white roof. Along with that, it shows distinguishable fender flares and front fender vents with a plastic body covering.
Finally, we come to the specs. Someone on the disco4.com forum surprised people with the pictures of the specs. This included dimensions, engine options, seating options, trims and much more. The 2020 Land Rover Defender will come in three variants: 90, 110 and 130. All these variants will be launched at different times.
As per the information revealed, the 90 variant is represented by the “halo image icon” and targets the young buyers looking for fun. Expected to arrive in March 2020, it will have be 78.7 inches in width, 171 inches in length and 75.8 inches in height. This version will be available in 5 and 6 seats options.
On the other hand, the 110 version termed as the “Definitive Defender” will target the self-employed, couples and adventurers. Offered as a 5, 6 or 7-seater, it will allegedly arrive in October this year. It will have a 119-inch wheelbase, 78.7 inches wide, 200.7 inches long and 75.4 inches in height.
Lastly, the 130 version denoted as ‘Premium Explorer” will arrive in 2022. This will be the top-spec version for families as well as travellers with an active lifestyle. All three variants share the same width. Similarly, 110 and 130 share the same wheelbase as well. However, 130 is 200.7 inches long and 75.4 inches high. It is offered as an 8-seater and is probably the biggest of the three.
The 90 and 110 models will be available in three petrol engines and three diesel engines along with a standard autobox and an all-wheel drive. The petrol engines offered are P300, P400 and a hybrid P400-PHEV while the diesel engines include a D200, D240 (four cylinder) and a D300 (straight six engine).
The new 2020 Land Rover Defender will be available in three trims: Standard, S, SE, HSE, and X. The top spec models will include adaptive matrix LED headlights, 12-inch digital instrument cluster, 14 speaker Meridian Sound System, 18-way adjustable electric leather seats along with 20-inch wheels.
