The Nissan Frontier goes by another name of Nissan Navara. It is basically a lineup of pickup trucks made by the Japanese automotive brand Nissan. This pickup truck was primarily constructed to win the Datsun 720 and since then, it has successfully been in production for 3 decades.
Presently, it is in the 3rd generation. Over the years, only subtle changes have been added. However, the latest Nissan Frontier is the leader of the next generation of Frontier series. A number of noteworthy features have been introduced.
The news suggests that the cabin will be revised and the engine will be modified. Although the truck is still behind its rivals, considerable improvement has been made. If you are looking for used cars for sale in Dubai, head to the CarSwitch website.
Performance and drive
The 2022 Nissan Frontier is fueled by a 3.8 liter V6 engine. This is the replacement for the previous 14 diesel or 2.5 liter I4 engines. The newly added robust engine can generate 310 hp and 281 pound feet of torque. This engine is mated to a 9 speed automatic transmission with the options of a 4 wheel or a rear wheel drive.
The details of its performance are not known yet since it has not been officially launched. However, the expectations regarding the towing capacity is an increase from 6720 pounds and the payload capacity to elevate from the existing 1450 pounds.
Since it utilizes the same V6 powertrain, miles per gallon and fuel economy will most probably remain the same. As per the expectations, the fuel economy in the city will be 18 mpg and 24 mpg on the highway.
Cabin, exterior and cargo
This new Frontier might have a heavier frame as observed from the silhouette of the truck. Simultaneously, a different version of the truck in which the interior will be spread is also to be revealed, combined with both a long and short cargo bed. The current big fenders will also appear less heavy and more box-like. At the bold front, there is a refined hood, a huge grille, and rectangular headlights displaying twin pronged DRLs.
On the inside, everything will resemble the counterparts of the Nissan Titan series. There is a dashboard and touchscreen in the middle. It is expected that the size of the touchscreen will be 9 inches and the dashboard would be 8 inches.
This is already an upgrade if it is compared to the present Frontiers generation. The flared rear haunches offer a stable stance. At the back, LED tail lights, a power sliding back window and a shark fin antenna are to be found.
Moreover, the quality of raw materials and cabin will definitely be higher than the previous versions.
Although no news is given out on the changes introduced in the cabin, there will be a lot because the current Frontier does not even have a heated steering wheel.
Features
As speculated before, the infotainment system is bound to undergo huge improvement. The touchscreen will be made similar to the Nissan Titan. Similarly, the infotainment will be equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto so that the drivers and passengers can sync their music.
There might be an addition of a WiFi hotspot, optional digital instrument cluster, heads-up display, wireless charging ports and a refined sound system.
Although the existing Frontier generations do not have enough driver assistance functions, the 2022 model is expected to come with sufficient tech for assisting drivers.
Features such as a blind spot monitoring system, an adaptive cruise control and a rear cross traffic alert might be added. Other installations can be an automatic emergency braking system and forward collision in the standard warnings.
Price and maintenance
The 2020 Nissan Frontier came with a Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $ 27,885 whereas the 2022 Frontier might come with a similar price, even though tons of useful upgrades and additions have been made.
There are 2 types of warranties provided by Nissan for the Frontier truck series.
This includes the Powertrain warranty and Limited warranty. The Limited warranty comes with a validity of 3 years or 36,000 miles as compared to the Powertrain warranty which covers 5 years or 60,000 miles. However, the manufacturer does not offer complimentary scheduled maintenance as opposed to the rivals.
