Audi recently unveiled its third RS SUV for the year at the 2019 LA Motor Show. The Audi RS Q8 is the fastest and most powerful car in the Q range. However, it isn’t known yet whether or not it will be available in the UAE soon, so for now you will just have to make do with other used cars in Abu Dhabi. CarSwitch.com has put together all the details you need to know about the Audi RS Q8.
Performance and Specs
The RS Q8 comes with a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 gasoline engine. It is paired with a mild-hybrid system and can churn out 592 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. The car can go from 0 to 100 kph in just 3.8 seconds which is only 0.2 seconds less than that of the uber-luxury Lamborghini Urus. For hitting 124mph, the car needs 13.7 seconds. It can achieve a top speed of 189.5 mph. The ride has already bagged the bragging rights for being the speediest SUV at the Nürburgring with a 7:42.253 lap time.
The mild-hybrid system of the car aims to improve efficiency. The belt alternator-starter system in the car can recover around 12 kW of power when it’s decelerating and redirect the electrons to a compact lithium-ion battery pack. All four wheels get power through the proprietary all-wheel-drive system and eight-speed automatic Tiptronic gearbox.
For better control, you can get the optional ceramic brakes that sit behind the alloys. They have 440-mm discs on the front and 370 mm disks at the back. Compared to the Q8 variant, the RS model is 10mm wider at the front and 5mm broader at the back. The spoiler on the roof is sportier, which means there is more downforce on the back axle for improved stability at high speeds. The glossier exterior is also something that tells the RS Q8 apart from the standard version.
Interior and Exterior
The RS Q8 has a coupe inspired roofline, large air intakes, and oval exhaust tips. It features 22-inch wheels and has the largest tires that have ever been seen on a production Audi, with a measurement of 295/40. The tires have been made front high-quality material to enhance safety in case of emergencies. The look is complemented by large 23-inch rims that will be available in various paint jobs.
Inside, there are sports seats that are wrapped in black leather and Alcantara that flaunt the RS logo. There is also an option to go for Valcona leather with a honeycomb pattern. The RS Q8 also comes with some displays in the digital instrument cluster specifically made for it. The optional head-up screen also has some RS Q8 specific graphics.
The Audi RS Q8 will go on sale in Europe in the first quarter of 2020 with a starting price of €127,000 (AED 515,800). It is also coming to the U.S. next year, however, there is no word on its availability in the UAE yet. Like other Audi used cars in Abu Dhabi, we’re sure this will be a hit!
