Kia is reportedly updating it’s sedan lineup one by one. After the Optima paved the way to the new 2021 K5, subsequent to Cadenza and then finally leading to the bigger and an upmarket K8, the automaker has now revealed the 2022 Kia Stinger.
This revised facelifted sedan has gained additional power in its range. Moreover, there is an updated design and little cabin changes too. These updates make it different from the 2018 debut model. What’s new in the exterior?
In case you want to know which side displays aesthetic cues to recognize the brand new model, it is the rear area. Different rear tailpipes are added and joining the taillights is a long LED light bar.
At the front side, updates have been made to the LED DRL design. Moreover, new wheels have been added. Apart from these changes, the appearance resembles the same Porsche-ish look which we are used to with.
What’s new in the cabin?
The interior receives an update in the shape of a brand new 10.25 inches of touchscreen which replaces the old standard 7 inches touchscreen. Where another big 8 inches unit is given as an option, the TFT cluster is standard at 4.2 inches. This means that most of the displayed information in the Stringer will be easy to see.
The upholstery is made of an upgraded Nappa leather. More cabin highlights are new trim details and elegant LED lights. Although the optional and standard driver information screens are larger this year, the brand is holding on to the special speedometer and tachometer dials which is something to be happy about.
Kia has chosen not to go completely digital with the gauge cluster like other vehicles have. Moreover, Kia has also created the sedan’s collection of advanced driver safety functions standard tech for 2022. Before, it was not standard until customers opted to buy the more costly GT 1 or GT 2 trims.
The new powertrain
The biggest change visible in the 2022 Kia Stinger is under the hood. A turbocharged 2.5 liter engine is offered to the base trims which is a replacement for the previous 2 liter unit. The new engine pumps out 300 horses which is exactly 45 hp more power output than the previous engine.
It comes with 422 Nm of torque which pummels the sedan from 0 to 100 kph in only 5.4 seconds. The extra powerful 2022 Kia Stinger GT will have it’s twin turbocharged 3.3 liter V6 engine. However, even this engine is accompanied with extra power of 368 horsepower.
All of the Kia Stinger trim levels have an 8-speed automatic transmission in their powertrain along with paddle shifters. Depending on the trim level, customers can choose between an all wheel drive or a rear wheel drive system.
If someone needs more class in the ride, the 2022 Kia Stinger can come with a brand new electronic variable exhaust system which improves the exhaust noise. For the customers who need more exclusivity, another unique Kia Stinger Scorpion variant is also available.
This special edition Kia Stinger is told to receive visual upgrades of a carbon fiber trim in the interior, a rear spoiler and a blacked out trim on the body and blacked out alloy wheels.
Wrapping it up
To conclude, if you liked the Stinger previously, there is a high chance that you will adore the upgraded model as well. This is because there are hardly any drawbacks in the 2022 Kia Stinger which might change your decision.
The updates given to the sedan have only increased the car’s value and appeal. It is a great sport sedan which is definitely better than the average midsize vehicles and less costly than the high-end luxurious sedans.
Till now, it is not known if the 2022 Kia Stinger will be available in the Middle East. However, it is expected that the upgraded sedan will hit the GCC showrooms in the late summer this year so stay tuned!
