The Hyundai Veloster is a fun, memorable and sporty car which had a 2021 model out. For the new generation updates, there is an exciting new optional transmission in the form of an 8 speed dual clutch automatic. The standard transmission is the 6 speed manual. There are more features and technology packed this time around.
For instance, the previous optional Performance Package for $2,100 is now standard. This means that all trims of Veloster will receive an electronic limited slip differential, an impressive exhaust noise, 19 inches wheels with Pirelli P-Zero summer tires and 275 hp. If you are interested to buy used Hyundai vehicles, CarSwitch is the best place.
Engine and drive
The Hyundai Veloster is fueled by a turbocharged in-line 4 cylinder 2 liter engine which delivers 260 pound feet of torque. The peak twist is between 1,450 and 4,700 rpm. With the DCT, the 60 mph distance will be covered in 5.6 seconds only. Unrivaled grip is achieved with the e-LSD and P-Zeroes.
The steering is amazing too with lots of feels which is not common for a modern electric system. Driver is determined to feel confident due to the chassis setup. The only downside is that there is much traction if the driver is not adept at handling throttle. In fact, the ride can be very rough even in the Comfort suspension mode but it is significantly better on the highway.
Exterior and interior
The whole exterior is mostly the same apart from the new white paint as a replacement for the old white. It’s design is appealing to the eyes and looks exciting. Although the 3-door body is not everyone’s favorite, it fills the gap between a 4-door and a coupe. A set of 19 inches of wheels are standard.
Creases and vents grace the front end whereas a sharp spoiler sits at the rear top. It perfectly blends into the tapered roof. There are color choices of Chalk White, Ultra Black, and Performance Blue. On the body, red accents are observed which form a classic look. The Racing Red color displays black accents.
On the inside, the biggest change is the addition of a new pair of front seats. These are slimmer and 4.4 pounds lighter as compared to the previous seats. Both the seats and steering wheel are heated. Apart from the refined upholstery, the brakes are made bigger too.
Although the cabin layout is clean and minimal, there is extensive usage of hard black plastic especially on the door panels and dashboard. Even though the build quality of the interior is not high, it surpasses the features.
There are blue light up N logos in the backrests which only illuminate when the vehicle is parked. However, there are accents and blue seatbelts as well. As in the previous generation, the 8 inches touchscreen is standard but now, there is an HD radio and navigation system too.
The touchscreen is located at the top of the dashboard with a small amount of buttons underneath. Same type of controls are given for the steering wheel. The two big blue buttons are for standard drive modes and the special Race mode respectively.
The entire infotainment system is redesigned and looks exquisite. For the sound, there is a standard 8 speaker Infinity stereo system which delivers excellent audio.
There are many N-specific pages in the infotainment system. Among them, the main one is the setup for the custom drive mode. The driver can easily adjust steering, exhaust noise, transmission, stability control and transmission. The various screens display an oil temperature, g-force meter, turbo boost, lap timer and torque output.
There are many standard safety features such as the blind spot monitoring, automated emergency braking, rear cross traffic alert, automatic high beams, driver attention monitor and lane keeping assistance. However, adaptive cruise control is still not available.
Wrapping it up
The 2021 Hyundai Veloster is an impressive hot hatchback. It is attractive, sporty, athletic, and an ideal bargain for the car segment. This angular hatchback is even more appealing in N guise. The automaker has added tons of new standard features which makes it even better.
