Gordon Murray is the British designer behind many Formula One racing vehicles and the McLaren F1 road car. He now brings us the GMA T.50. The interesting bit is that even though this is the first time we are seeing the production vehicle, the majority of the total 100 units were sold when it was just in the design phase! CarSwitch.com, an online marketplace to sell any car in Dubai, did some research to share the details with you.
Gordon Murray T.50 Engine And Performance
The T.50 features a naturally aspirated V-12 engine that has been mounted behind the cabin. It is mated with a six-speed manual gearbox. Murray is pretty proud of the engine and thinks it might be the greatest internal-combustion engine ever seen on a road car. He also says that it was pretty challenging to make it in a way that it can shoulder some of the loads between the rear suspension and central carbon-fiber tub.
The British automotive engineering company Cosworth was able to beat power, weight, and rev targets. The engine weighs 392 pounds. It delivers 654 horsepower and 344 lb-ft of torque. It can add 28,400 revs a second without any load.
This is a three-seater, which means you get a central driving position and two passenger seats and they are accessed through gullwing-opening doors. According to the manufacturer, the car weighs 2174 pounds and this gives it a power-to-weight ratio of 3.3 pounds per horsepower. It also boasts a 15.7-inch, 48-volt, 11.4-hp electric fan for active aerodynamics that can spin at up to 7000 rpm. This will help control the levels of downforce by taking off the boundary layer from the ride’s underbody diffuser and decrease drag by making a virtual longtail. As a result, the T.50 doesn’t need any large wing elements.
Murray asserts that the fan offers up to a 50 percent improvement in downforce, a reduction of 12.5 percent in drag, and removes 33 feet from the braking distance from 150 mph. The rear of the car houses the fan’s substantial vent.
Thanks to a 48-volt starter-generator, the car boasts an electrically fueled air-conditioning compressor. It also has power steering with low-speed electrical assistance to help with maneuvering. This will make it much easier to park the car. It also flaunts LED headlights that will provide category-beating range.

Gordon Murray T.50 Exterior And Interior
The T.50’s basic proportions are reminiscent of the F1 but just slightly bigger. It is 30mm longer because of the increased interior cabin space. Murray is confident that three adults can travel in it comfortably. It also has a camera-based rearview setup for better visibility. The cabin design is well thought out, with a special focus on ergonomics. It comes with a bespoke switchgear and there is a tachometer aided by digital displays in front of the driver’s seat. Wiper, lights, and the different aerodynamic modes can be controlled via rotary controls on the left. On the right, you get controls for HVAC and climate.
The car costs £2.36m (Dh11.3 million) before taxes and it is being called the most driver-centric supercar.
