The exterior design of the 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser is significantly different from the previous models. While the 2015 Land Cruiser was more elegant, the 2016 Land Cruiser can be best described as sporty and rugged. The front fascia of the current model benefits from a revised and bold grille along with a new set of sharp LED headlamps. Additionally, new fog lamps and a thin chrome trim have been added to the lower bumper. The wheels are 18-inch alloys and complement the overall sturdy appearance of the 2016 Land Cruiser.
Interior design
Some new features have also been incorporated into its interior, including an updated center console with a cooler box and a heated steering wheel. Some of the standard features, which were also present in the 2015 model, consist of a dual zone air conditioning system, powered seats, a 9- inch navigation system with Bluetooth connectivity, a 6-speaker audio system and a 10.1-inch rear entertainment system (VXR grade).
The 2016 model retains the same wheelbase as offered in 2013, 2014 and 2015 models, so there isn’t any difference in the interior space. The 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser is available in three engine options:
- 4.0L, V6 with 271 horsepower and 385 Nm torque
- 4.6L, V8 with 304 horsepower and 439 Nm torque
- 5.7L, V8 with 362 horsepower and 530 Nm torque
The powertrain remains the same as the previous model; however, a new 8-speed automatic transmission system has been mated with the 5.7L V8 unit. The base 4.0L engine is paired with a 5-speed automatic gearbox.
Driving dynamics
Toyota Land Cruiser has always been popular for its incredible off-roading performance and swift driving experience. However, Toyota has enhanced the driving dynamics for the 2016 model, thanks to the new and advanced four-wheel drive system, which makes use of Torsen limited-slip locking center differential and distributes the torque with 40:60 ratio between front and rear wheels. Moreover, the new Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System also ensures a pleasurable driving experience both on-road and off-road.
With the standard 4.0L engine, the new Land Cruiser can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 11 seconds with a top speed of 200 km/h, while the 4.6L engine is 2 seconds faster. With the powerful 5.7L engine, you can achieve the 100 km/h mark in just 7 seconds and can go as fast as 220 km/h.
Fuel consumption
Toyota has announced that the new 8-speed automatic gearbox not only improves acceleration but also has better fuel economy. The 4.0L engine is known to deliver around 12.9-13.4 L/100 km, while the 5.7L engine consumes around 15.7 L to cover 100 kilometers – not bad for such a powerful engine.
Safety features
The safety equipment also remains the same as found in the 2015 and 2014 Land Cruisers. Some of the popular safety facilities include front collision warning system, front collision mitigation system, lane departure alert, blind spot monitoring, automatic high beams and adaptive cruise control.

- 4.0L EXR and GXR start at AED 209,000 and AED 238,000 respectively
- 4.6L EXR, GXR and VXR starts at AED 229,000, AED 258,000 and AED 295,000 respectively.
