Our UAE listings run from AED 17500 for a car from the last decade to AED 281000 for a current-year one, with age and engine mattering more than the nameplate: a 2017 Discovery Sport, for instance, went for AED 34,000. One change to factor in — the Defender's current generation dropped the old ladder-frame construction for a monocoque on air springs, so it drives like a road car while keeping the ability.

Are used Land Rovers reliable?

The electronics are better than the folklore suggests. Across the Land Rovers we have inspected in the UAE, at a median of 118,000 km, 5% had an electrical or electronics fault, against the 12% we would expect for SUVs of the same age and mileage here. That does not make them cheap to own — air suspension, cooling and brakes are expensive on a heavy SUV, and desert use accelerates all of them. Which used Land Rover should you buy?

The Defender is the one to stretch for if the budget allows — the most capable and the most in demand. The Discovery is the practical family answer with seven usable seats, the Discovery Sport the cheapest modern one. The LR4 and LR2 are value buys where condition matters more than mileage.
