About Honda Civic

Two of the three Civics sold in the UAE are ordinary family cars. The third is the Type R, a 2.0-litre track weapon that costs twice as much and shares the badge and little else. Buying a Civic here starts with deciding which of those two conversations you are having. Both are the eleventh-generation car, a full redesign that calmed the styling right down and moved the cabin noticeably upmarket.

How much does the Honda Civic cost in the UAE?

The range does not so much rise as fork. The 1.5T LX at AED 99,900 and the Sport above it are the mainstream Civics and sit close together. Then comes the 2.0T Type-R at AED 204,900, which is a separate car built for a separate buyer. Ignore the top figure unless you want that car, because it distorts the range badly.

Which Civic trim is the one to buy?

The Sport, for most people. It brings the wheels, trim and driver assistance the base car does without, on the same engine and chassis, and it is the version that holds its appeal used. The base trim is the value choice if you are buying purely to commute.

Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla?

Choose the Civic if you actually enjoy driving. Sharper steering, a more composed chassis, a bigger and better-looking cabin — and it is the only car in the class with a genuine performance version at the top. The Toyota Corolla is the calmer, cheaper-to-insure alternative that costs you less to sell. The Hyundai Elantra beats both for equipment per dirham.

What does a Honda Civic cost to run in the UAE?

About 13 Km/L from the 1.5 L turbo, which is competitive without being remarkable. Trading Enterprises covers warranty and parts in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah — useful on a car this common, because it means a workshop outside the network can still fit genuine components rather than substitutes.

Does the Honda Civic hold its value, and what should you watch for as it ages?

Slightly under its class, at about 52% after five years against roughly 55% for mainstream Japanese cars here. The Civics reaching CarSwitch for inspection arrive at a median of around 120,000 km, where the recurring items are suspension bushes and previous panel repair rather than engine trouble. Type R cars deserve a harder look at tyres, brakes and any sign of track use — all of which the individual report shows.

Is a used Civic the better buy?

The saving is one of the biggest in the class. A nearly new example generally runs around AED 45,000 to AED 135,000, roughly 57% under the new entry price — about AED 55,000 saved. That range is wide because it spans plain commuters and Type Rs, so match the car to the number.

Decide whether you want a commuter or the Type R, because that answer changes everything — including which of the used Civics listed now is worth a look.
