Avatr is a premium Chinese electric and hybrid vehicle brand — a joint venture between Changan Automobile, CATL, and Huawei — bringing a technology-forward proposition to the Gulf. In the UAE, the lineup spans from AED 165,000 to AED 320,000, covering three models across the SUV and sedan segments, with powertrain choices ranging from a range-extending hybrid to fully electric drivetrains.
UAE distribution is handled through an authorised dealer network, with showroom presence in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The brand entered the Gulf market as part of a broader Chinese premium EV push in the mid-2020s, positioning itself above mainstream Chinese brands and directly targeting buyers cross-shopping European luxury alternatives.
Avatr's UAE lineup currently spans three models. The Avatr 7 is the entry point — a mid-size SUV available with a 1.5-litre turbocharged range-extender hybrid (REV) powertrain, making it the most accessible model and the only one in the range that does not require a full commitment to battery-electric ownership. It ranges from the Luxury (HEV/REV) to Performance (HEV/REV) trims. The Avatr 12 is a sleek electric sedan — a direct rival to the BMW 5 Series EV and the NIO ET5 — available from the Luxury RWD through to the GT AWD, with pricing sitting in the middle of the brand range. At the top sits the Avatr 11, a large electric SUV competing with the likes of the BMW iX and Mercedes EQE SUV, with the Premium AWD flagship pushing to AED 320,000. Across all three models, Avatr leans heavily on its Huawei-developed intelligent cockpit technology and CATL battery supply as key differentiators over European rivals at comparable price points.
