Previously, residents in different emirates have been receiving warnings regarding <\/span>fines for pedestrians<\/span><\/a> not following rules. Similarly, this new system of radars is called \u2018Hather\u2019 which literally means be careful. The objective of these radars is to limit violations and decrease the run-over accidents in Abu Dhabi.<\/span><\/p>\n

These radars consist of two cameras. One of them will detect the number plates of the <\/span>used cars<\/span><\/a> coming towards the pedestrian crossing. On the other hand, the second camera will use facial recognition to recognize jaywalkers. Additionally, it has a digital screen to track both directions and a central processing unit for surveillance of its surroundings.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to statistics, 50,695 people were seen not using zebra crossings or weren’t using lanes for pedestrians. Abu Dhabi police claims that this system will enhance the monitoring system and make roads in Abu Dhabi safer. Additionally, it will also prevent or reduce the amount of life-threatening accidents.<\/span><\/p>\n

This system has been put in place by Abu Dhabi Police under the 2016-2020 plan for the safety of pedestrians. Though, pedestrians or jaywalkers aren\u2019t the only ones who have to remain cautious. <\/span><\/p>\n

Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah have been alerting motorists about giving way to pedestrians. Violating traffic rules will surely get them in trouble in the form of fines. Even more, <\/span>drivers who ignore the school bus stop signs<\/span><\/a> are also subject to fines. <\/span><\/p>\n

Abu Dhabi Municipality is also playing a vital role in making the Capital a safer place for residents. In a recent announcement, the Municipality has uncovered its plan to build 12 bridges for pedestrians worth AED 60 million. These bridges will cover Mussafah, Sultan Bin Zayed Road, Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum Road and many more major roads.<\/span><\/p>\n

The fines for <\/span>used car<\/span><\/a> drivers who do not give way to pedestrians is AED 500 and 6 black points. Whereas, a fine of AED 400 and three black points will be given to those motorists who stop on pedestrian crossings. In the same way, pedestrians caught jaywalking will have to pay a fine of AED 400. <\/span><\/p>\n
