For quite a while now, the humble Honda Civic has been a very popular car. Affordable, efficient and reliable, it is one of the <\/span>best selling cars<\/span><\/a> of all time! First Generation: 1973-1979<\/b><\/p>\n

1977 Honda Civic<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The fist Civics that arrived in Dubai in the early 1970s were plain and practical with a slightly <\/span>vintage feel<\/span><\/a> and fewer options. They came with mounted water-cooled engine on the top, revved up at 50 hp, and were light, roomy and pretty affordable. The mid 1970s was also a time of fuel crisis. People wanted cars that would taste fuel but would still carry their families. The first generation Honda Civic fulfilled that role. Unfortunately, rust issues was a major factor in the decline of the model and only a few survived.<\/span><\/p>\n

Second generation: 1979-1983<\/b><\/p>\n

The original Civics were pretty awesome to drive. Seeing how people enjoyed the nimble-footedness and lightweight chuckability, Honda went on to create sporty versions! The second generation Civic was a little larger than its predecessors but was still light enough. The sportier version were designated an \u201cS\u201d and came with a little more power, 69 hp and a suspension upgrade.<\/span><\/p>\n

Third Generation: 1983-1987<\/b><\/p>\n

Blending Practicality with fun while remaining affordable, the modern Civics grew compact and boxy. They were also given competitive power levels of 100 hp. With a curb weight of 1760 pounds, the third generation Civics made for a good drive with their new and improved power, five-speed manual transmission and a resourceful hatchback body!<\/span><\/p>\n

Fourth Generation: 1987-1981<\/b><\/p>\n

First launched as a hatchback, then later as a sedan and a wagon, Honda added more sporty fun to the two-seater CRX while still retaining its hatchback sensibilities. The 91-hp powered Si with a 1.5L had the same engine as the standard Civic but didn\u2019t need much anyways.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 1989 Civic Wagon was also one of the popular Civic Wagons. Box-like and high roofed, it was available as an all-wheel drive with with the same thrifty engine specs as the other Honda Civics.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fifth generation: 1991-1995<\/b><\/p>\n

Keeping variants and sporty models aside, the backbone of the Honda sales came to be the economically engineered LX sedan model that contained nothing luxurious besides air-conditioning and automatic transmission. Its known for surviving decades of weathering! <\/span><\/p>\n

Sixth Generation: 1995-2000<\/b><\/p>\n

1997 Acura EL<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Acura- EL was one of Honda\u2019s luxury sedans with a 4-speed automatic system. It had superior features and specs that you couldn\u2019t get in a humble Civic. Built in Canada and for Canada, the Acura was very successful in the country<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Seventh Generation: 2001-2005<\/b><\/p>\n

In 2002, Civic took to revamping its performance variants. Honda Civic\u2019s power was up to 160 mph with improved torque. However, the the double wishbone suspension was done away with. The structural rigidity increased but so did the weight. The skeleton was a foreshadowing of what was to come for Honda in the coming generations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Eighth Generation: 2006-2011<\/b><\/p>\n

The Eighth generation Civic was a definite winner in the looks department; with a more streamlined look, better aerodynamics and a sharply grated windshield. With a more potent 197 hp engine, the Civic had set the style for it\u2019s upcoming versions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ninth Generation: 2012-2015<\/b><\/p>\n

The 2013 Civic continued to push the bar forward by designing features like the Pandora internet radio, bluetooth availability and a rear camera that was uncommon for a compact car. The 2014 Honda Civic Coupe offered even more upgrades in design and performance. <\/span><\/p>\n

Tenth Generation: 2016 to present<\/b><\/p>\n
