This uneven burning of fuel creates the phenomenon of fuel burning in larger amounts as opposed to smaller segments. The chemistry of fuel burning is such that when one pocket of fuel burns it causes a chain reaction and burns neighboring pocket until all the fuel is burned in that stroke. When these smaller segments of fuel do not burn evenly they cause shocking sensations against the cylinder wall which creates the knocking sound. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Common Causes:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Fuel in your car with low octane rating can cause this problem. The anti-knock index can help you determine the octane rating of gasoline. Other reasons for engine knocking could be carbon deposits on the walls of the cylinder or the use of incorrect spark plugs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Solution: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Engine knocking can be fixed by using \u00a0higher octane fuels. Or if your car has <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">incorrect spark plugs then check on the specific part number of your spark plug as each is designed to run at a given range. Check the exact requirement of your car specific spark plug and get them installed. Reduce carbon build up by using an unleaded gasoline and a good quality fuel stabilizer.
