The Lexus ES300h is the one you&#8217;ll see most often.<\/li>\n<li>A 2023 ES300h lists around AED 185,000 \u2014 roughly 25% less than new. A 2020 model lists around AED 136,000, about 45% less.<\/li>\n<li>Set up alerts. When a hybrid does appear, it won&#8217;t sit long.<\/li>\n<li>If your budget is under AED 75,000, you&#8217;ll struggle to find a hybrid right now. Consider a fuel-efficient petrol four-cylinder instead.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n\n<h2>A huge gap between what buyers want and what&#8217;s available<\/h2>\n\n<p>If you&#8217;ve been searching for a used hybrid and feeling like they don&#8217;t exist \u2014 you&#8217;re not imagining it. According to CarSwitch listings data (July 2026), about 25% of buyer searches specify &#8220;hybrid&#8221; as the fuel type. But hybrids make up barely 1% of actual listings. That&#8217;s a 23-point gap between demand and supply.<\/p>\n\n<p>To put it plainly: for every hybrid that gets listed, there are roughly 20 buyers looking for one. No other fuel type is this lopsided.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote style=\"background:#F4F5FA;border:0;border-inline-start:4px solid #141652;border-radius:6px;margin:28px 0;padding:20px 24px;font-size:1.08em;line-height:1.65;font-style:normal;\"><p>&#8220;A quarter of our buyers are actively searching for hybrids, and we just don&#8217;t have enough of them. Owners hold on to these cars longer, so fewer come to market.&#8221;<\/p><cite style=\"display:block;margin-top:10px;font-size:0.86em;font-style:normal;font-weight:700;color:#141652;\">Ramiz Islam, Head of Marketing at CarSwitch<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n<h2>Why there are so few used hybrids in the UAE<\/h2>\n\n<h3>Hybrids are still new here<\/h3>\n\n<p>The UAE&#8217;s new-car market was almost entirely petrol until very recently. CarSwitch&#8217;s own powertrain mix shows this clearly: through the first half of 2024, petrol cars accounted for 100% of listings. Hybrids first appeared in meaningful numbers in Q3 2024 \u2014 at under 3%. By early 2025, they&#8217;d only crept up to about 1%.<\/p>\n\n<p>There simply hasn&#8217;t been enough time for a large pool of used hybrids to build up.<\/p>\n\n<h3>Owners don&#8217;t sell them quickly<\/h3>\n\n<p>Hybrid owners tend to keep their cars longer. Fuel savings compound over time, and hybrid powertrains \u2014 especially Toyota and Lexus ones \u2014 have a reputation for lasting well past 200,000 km. When owners are saving money every month at the pump, there&#8217;s less reason to sell.<\/p>\n\n<h3>Resale values stay strong<\/h3>\n\n<p>High demand and low supply mean prices hold. A three-year-old Lexus ES300h still lists around AED 185,000 \u2014 only about 25% below its new price of AED 247,500. Compare that to the petrol ES350 from 2023, which lists around AED 170,000 \u2014 about 31% below the same new price. When one lands, don&#8217;t wait a week to enquire.<\/p>\n\n<h3>Your budget determines your options<\/h3>\n\n<p>Most used hybrids on the market right now are Lexus or Toyota models, and they&#8217;re not cheap. If you&#8217;re looking at cars under 75,000 AED, you&#8217;re unlikely to find a hybrid that&#8217;s inspection-verified and in good shape. You may have better luck with a fuel-efficient four-cylinder petrol car \u2014 they make up about 34% of all listings, so there&#8217;s plenty to choose from.<\/p>\n\n<h3>The hybrid premium is real \u2014 but so are the savings<\/h3>\n\n<p>Side by side, the 2023 hybrid ES300h lists about AED 15,000 higher than the 2023 petrol ES350. That&#8217;s roughly a 9% premium. But hybrid owners in the UAE typically save AED 3,000\u20135,000 a year on fuel. The 2020 model around AED 136,000 is the sweet spot \u2014 big savings versus new, and the kilometres are still reasonable. The 2023 model around AED 185,000 is a good pick if you want something newer with under 20,000 km.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Toyota Camry Hybrid.<\/strong> Less common on listings right now, but worth watching. It sits below the Lexus in price and shares much of the same hybrid technology.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Toyota RAV4 Hybrid.<\/strong> If you want an SUV \u2014 and about half of all buyers do \u2014 this is one of the few hybrid SUVs that occasionally appears on the used market. SUVs make up over 63% of all listings, but almost none are hybrids. Yet.<\/p>\n\n<h2>Will supply catch up?<\/h2>\n\n<p>Eventually, yes. More hybrids are being sold new in the UAE every quarter. As those cars age and owners trade up, more will flow into the used market. But we&#8217;re still in the early innings.
