Have you spotted the roads painted red in Dubai, yet? When you do, don\u2019t be alarmed. They are there to guide you about the speed limits. Wondering what\u2019s going on here? Let\u2019s find out.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Road and Transit Authority (RTA) in Dubai recently announced that several roads in the city are to be painted red to indicate a change in speed limits. The initiative aims not only at alerting drivers to new speed limits but also to minimize the number of accidents on major roads like the Sheikh Zayed. Sounds like a better option than those annoying speed bumps, don\u2019t you agree?<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s a first-of-its-kind initiative in Dubai and RTA believes that painting the roads in an eye-catching style will help grab the attention of drivers. The asphalt on Oud Metha Street along the extension of Dubai al-Ain Street, where the speed limit was recently reduced from 100km\/h to 80km\/h, has already been painted red.<\/span><\/p>\n

The project will gradually be implemented near the fifth interchange on the Sheikh Zayed Road where the speed limit has been reduced from 120 km\/h to 100km\/h. It will also be applied near Lehbab on the Jebel Ali-Lehbab Road that is subject to a similar speed limit change. <\/span><\/p>\n

According to the CEO at RTA\u2019s Traffic and Roads Agency, Maitha Bin Adai, the project will likely reduce the number of future accidents and traffic deaths. RTA expects drivers in Dubai to avoid speeding-related offenses and get used to the red painted roads because it\u2019s for their own safety.
