It’s summer time in the UAE and we all know what that means for our cars, right? There are plenty of used cars in Dubai that break down in the summer due to lack of maintenance. Fortunately, prepping your car for the blistering hot season is easy if you follow our 5 step plan.<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Save That Battery: <\/b>See any signs of corrosion on the car battery\u2019s terminals? You can clean it off with baking soda and a toothbrush but if the corrosion comes back, it\u2019s definitely time to replace the battery. Batteries tend to die in the summer, especially ones that are older than 3 years. Take care of it beforehand to avoid the trouble but remember to be on the lookout for these car repair scams<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. AC Unit – the Lifesaver:<\/b> Before the start of summer, preferably in spring, have the AC unit inspected and serviced. That way it can keep you cool even at the peak of summer. Specifically, have the refrigerant pressure checked because a leak can reduce the cooling power of your AC.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. The Magic of Tinting:<\/b> While a good air conditioner is necessary for every used car in Dubai, there is another trick that can help keep you cool in the summer. Get the rear and side windows tinted to make air conditioning more effective and stay cool. Just remember that maximum allowed tinting level is 50%.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. No Cracking Tires, Please:<\/b> Worn-down tires can compromise your safety on the road, and nothing wears down those tires more than running on the hot summer road in the UAE. So inspect the tires for any bulges and cracks and replace old tires because they are more likely to blow out in the summer heat. <\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Keep It Cool with the Engine Coolant: <\/b>Take a look at the engine coolant, its condition, AND level. Make sure it\u2019s clear, not cloudy, and top it off if levels are low. Get a mechanic to ensure there are no leaks in the radiator. If the temperature light goes off when you are driving, that\u2019s a sure sign that something\u2019s wrong. Immediately turn off the AC and open car windows.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
