Daniil Kvyat was eighth while Alpha Tauri team-mate Pierre Gasly and Kimi Raikkonen of Alfa Romeo took ninth and tenth place respectively. McLaren took eleventh and thirteenth in the practice race with Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris respectively.
Sebastian Vettel took fourteenth, with his final FP1 for Ferrari. In his final race, he wore a shiny new helmet to thank his team, fans, and Italy as he bid adieu to the team he has raced with for six years.
With a temperature of 25 degrees, the track was 39 degrees with the teams using the softest range of tires available from Pirelli on the smooth Yas Marina circuit.
