Electric vehicles are still a relatively new trend, with most used cars in Dubai still running on oil and gas. In the first 10 months of the year, EVs made up only 2.2 percent of the global car sales. However, with many brands launching their new EVs in all shapes and sizes, this number is bound to go up soon. CarSwitch.com lists 5 compact electric cars which will be great for your everyday ride.

It has an electric motor at the back which offers a power output of up to 113 kW and 315 Nm of torque. Moreover, Honda claims that the car can go from 0 to 62 mph in only 8.3 seconds. The 35.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack inside will offer a range of about 137 miles. The base model will cost €29,470. Deliveries will start next year.

The Peugeot e-208 makes use of the e-CMP model for PSA’s new car platform. Combustion engine versions will also be available, and one of the differentiating factors between them and the electric model will be light blue detailing. The Peugeot e-208 will be able to go from a standstill to 62mph in 8.5 seconds. Inside, there will be a 50kWh battery pack that will give it a range of 200 miles. With a rapid charger, you will be able to juice it up to 80 percent of its capacity in only 30 minutes.

The Volkswagen ID.3 is the new people’s car after the discontinuation of the beloved Beetle. The Volkswagen ID.3 might not be as small, but it’s reasonably priced, which makes it worth considering. Furthermore, the compact car is based on the latest MEB platform. Reservations for the launch model started back in May and deliveries will start in mid-2020. Volkswagen got 10,000 orders within 24 hours of the opening, which is quite impressive.
