The 2021 Nissan X-Trail has been unveiled in the US as the Rogue SUV. Wondering what’s new? The experts at CarSwitch.com, an online marketplace to buy a used car in Abu Dhabi, did some research to share the details with you.
2021 Nissan X-Trail Engine And Performance
The automaker says that the latest X-Trail is based on a new platform, without going into specifics. Previously, the company was rumored to utilize the development of the Renault Nissan Alliance ‘CMF-C/D’ architecture that powers the third-generation model.
Apparently the new model will inherit the current vehicle’s 2.5-litre non-turbo petrol engine. The US-bound Rogue will likely get a minor boost in performance and torque. The American variant boasts 135kW of horsepower and 245Nm of torque, which is slightly greater than the progenitor’s 126kW and 237Nm.
The Rogue also gets Vehicle Motion Control which works well with the Intelligent All-wheel Drive setup and drive modes to predict the driver’s actions by monitoring acceleration, steering, and braking. If needed, the system can take over to “smooth things out.” This means that the car basically features a degree of autonomous driving which will not just improve safety but also comfort.
The Intelligent All-wheel Drive system also gets a new electro-hydraulic clutch that offers improved monitoring and quicker response to front-wheel slip.
Additionally, the X-Trail also has the ProPilot autonomous driver-assist system which combines stop-and-go highway driving via Intelligent Cruise Control with steering assist to help with lane-keeping. The latest version of ProPilot uses both camera and radar. The Navi-link feature is also a part of the ProPilot system, and it would allow for speed control guided by a map.
Other mechanical updates include a six-point rigid-mount suspension system, a rack electric power steering system, and a multi-link arrangement at the back.
Front-wheel-drive variants will consist of Standard, Sport, and Eco driving models, while all-wheel-drive models will also get Off-road and Snow. Nissan might also launch a hybrid X-Trail to compete with the petrol-electric variant of the Toyota RAV4. The current Rogue range also has a hybrid version.
