Looking forward to the eighth installment of the blockbuster franchise Fast and the Furious? So are we! Treating car lovers to a spectacle of modified fast cars and awesome driving sequences, what’s not to like there? With the movie releasing in the UAE this week, we figured it’s the perfect opportunity to polish up your knowledge on some of the top muscle cars from the franchise. Let’s take a look!
1970 Dodge Charger
One of the most iconic cars in the history of the franchise is Dom’s Dodge Charger. In a sea of brightly-colored cars, this black Charger easily stands out. Supposedly pushing a 900 hp, the Charger is destroyed at the end of the first film and is resurrected in the fourth film. Did you know that the car used for close-ups had a functionally blown Hemi? Don’t worry though, it was never actually destroyed!

1967 Ford Mustang Fastback
Another iconic muscle car is the Mustang Fastback that features in the Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift. This classic from the late 60’s famously beat one of the more modern cars, a Nissan 350Z. Guess what other movies it stars in? That’s right, Nicolas Cage’s Gone in Sixty Seconds. Featuring a one-of-its-kind dual hydraulic system, the original Mustang Fastback pushes 360 hp, reaching a top speed of 240km/h. If you think that’s impressive for a muscle car, wait till you see the next one! And while you’re at it, also check out this car movies list.

1973 Chevrolet F-Bomb Camaro
Towards the end of the third film, Dom drives a replica of the F-Bomb into the bad guy in one of the final scenes. Originally created as an experiment, by Hot Rod Editor-in-Chief David Freiburger, to find out how much torque can be put into a car while still maintaining its street legal status, this resulting twin-turbo 1500 hp beast of a machine is probably one of the fastest you will see in the entire series!

1969 Chevrolet Camaro Yenko
Remember that scene in the second film 2 Fast 2 Furious where Paul Walker’s character Brian O’Conner jumps a car from a ramp aboard a yacht? Yes, it’s THAT car! The original car’s low suspension will probably make that feat impossible in real life but hey, it does make for an awesome cinematic scene! Featuring a V-8 engine producing 450 hp, the numbers are also good for this one. But they are even better for this modified Camaro.
Car enthusiasts in Dubai, you better not miss the upcoming installment. Let’s see if any of these muscle cars make a reappearance! Also, if you are looking for used cars for sale in Dubai, UAE, there is no better place than CarSwitch’s inventory of inspected and certified used cars. Enjoy!
