Ever since the custom coach-built Sweptail by Rolls-Royce was revealed, clients have been demanding their own custom vehicles and this is exactly what Boat Tail is about. Envisioned by 3 customers, the customized Boat Tail is here after 4 years of development and it epitomizes opulence.

Only 3 Boat Tails will be available for those customers and each will boast its own color, distinct design, features, and trim details. The first Boat Tail was unveiled at Villa d’Este and this article talks about it in detail. If you want to buy any used car in Dubai, visit the CarSwitch website.

Architecture

Based on the manufacturer’s own Architecture of Luxury, it’s a modular platform featuring top-notch engineering. The details regarding the specs of this model haven’t been shared except that it shares the same twin-turbo V-12 as in the other Rolls-Royce lineup. 2 feet longer than the Dawn and even longer than the previous Phantom Drophead, it is 228 inches big. The vehicle looks, unlike any other existing Rolls-Royce. Superb dimensions are inspired by prewar boat tail cars, with a sweeping rear end. With only 2 prominent creases, body surfacing is minimal and the vehicle is made by hand. The bottom parts underneath are constructed with exposed carbon fiber.

Apart from a horizontal grille opening and a few character lines surrounding the headlights, the front has nothing more to offer but still looks classic. The tires are blue too and there are standard retractable side windows along with a pair of small quarter windows.

The hosting suite

Looking similar to a boat’s hull, the rear deck is constructed with open-pore grey Caleidolegno wood. This wood is usually only utilized in the cabin but the manufacturer made good use of the material. Stainless steel stripes are visible on the rear bumper and rear deck too.

Underneath the rear deck is the car’s centerpiece. Since the clients frequently host dinner parties, the deck opens a hosting suite by pressing a button. After the panels open, 2 chests are visible at 15°. The right side displays a set of silverware and dishes whereas the left side features Champagne glasses, a double refrigerator, napkins, and other necessities.

Rolls-Royce has added the client’s favorite vintage Champagne in the rear deck. And guess what? Even the Champagne bottles are polished in a blue tone. This engineering marvel is perfect for fancy gatherings.

A cocktail table on both sides made with the same wood rotates in a way to imitate “the offering of an attendant”. Moreover, 2 folding stools made of carbon fiber and leather are situated below. When the panels are open, a parasol from the center of the rear deck can be taken out.

The parasol is made of carbon fiber and polished aluminum.

Carbon and chrome are mainly used to make this masterpiece. The suite is completely customized without any spare parts. The whole visual opens in an inverted flowering motion.

What’s on the inside?

Most of the cabin is shared with the outgoing Phantom Drophead convertible. The owners are fans of timepieces which is why a set of unique Bovet 1822 watches are added to the fascia. These watches also match the car and come with their own stowing compartment. Analog gauges and a fixed clock are located at the top of the dashboard.

Many special touches have been on the inside too which guarantees it’s uniqueness despite using old components. The seats wear a two-tone blue combo and bright blue stitching. A metallic sheen is seen on the upholstery too.

The same wood as the deck is used for the dashboard. Veneers are found on the transmission tunnel, center console, floor, and other parts.
