Try to imagine a jeep in your mind. You will most likely envision the rugged Wrangler. However, the Grand Cherokee has also gained immense success over the years and this has put the spotlight on the credible off-road brand. The top reason why Jeep Grand Cherokee is appealing is due to the flawless way it combines off-road performance with on-road elegance.

Moreover, the vehicle boasts an attractive outdoor rugged exterior along with its host of luxurious features and appointments. Three types of powertrains are available – the old V-6, V-8 and a new plugin hybrid known as 4xe. The rear-wheel drive is standard on models having V6 but 3 varying all-wheel drive systems are also available. This excellent variety is offered to satisfy all lifestyle and driving requirements. If you want to buy used Jeep vehicles in UAE, go visit the CarSwitch website.

Engine and Performance

Similar to the previous Grand Cherokee, the 2022 is fueled by a 5.7 liter Hemi V-8 or a 3.6 liter V-6 engine. There’s a plug-in hybrid 4xe powertrain too which adds electrification to the family SUV. All-Wheel Drive is standard on the models equipped with plug-in hybrid or V-8 powertrains.

Different All-Wheel Drive systems are offered such as an electronically locking limited-slip differential. Moreover, a Trailhawk model boasting additional off-road equipment and better capability is available as well. The Trailhawk model displays a disconnecting sway bar which permits refined wheel articulation in order to cope with challenging terrain and an adjustable air suspension which offers 11.3 inches of ground clearance.

When it comes to performance, it is expected that the Jeep Grand Cherokee will offer the same Trackhawk and SRT models.

Fuel economy

The expected fuel economy for the V-6 powered Jeep Grand Cherokee is similar to the middle sized SUV segment when it is mated to a rear-wheel drive – 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. When all-wheel drive is added, this estimate is dropped by 1 mpg. So, the V-8 model will have a fuel economy of 14 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.

However, the plug-in hybrid 4xe is expected to deliver better fuel efficiency but no announcement has been made from EPA. Models equipped with this powertrain have a 14 kWh battery pack and a 134 hp motor. This allows the vehicle to ride for 25 miles on each charge.

Cabin and comfort

A contemporary cabin replaces the previously dated interior of the Grand Cherokee. Although the basics are provided by the base Laredo model, the higher Overland and Summit models will add amenities such as open-pore wood trim, quilted leather upholstery, and innovative digital screens. The cabin includes 2 rows but it can be upgraded to 3 rows.

Just on top of the dashboard is a 10.1- or 8.4- inches touchscreen equipped with standard Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Optional features are real-time traffic and weather updates, and in-dashboard navigation. Interested buyers can add a 10 inches head-up display, a digital gauge cluster and additional 10.3 inches display molded in the higher trims.

Although the Limited and Laredo models have a standard 6-speaker stereo system, it can be upgraded to an upscale 19-speaker McIntosh setup or a 9-speaker Alpine stereo system.

Safety and driver assistance functions

Potential buyers are prioritizing driver assistance functions such as lane keeping assist, pedestrian detection, and semi-autonomous driving modes. Therefore, the automaker is striving to deliver a more fulfilling list of standard safety features in order to satisfy the public demand. Some of the standard safety features of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee are listed below:

  • Standard adaptive cruise control
  • Standard lane departure warning and lane keeping assist
  • Standard automated emergency braking
  • Standard pedestrian detection

Warranty and maintenance coverage

If there is one thing which won’t ever be changed in the Jeep Grand Cherokee, it is the standard warranty coverage. Competitors such as Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Telluride both boast more comprehensive coverage in this aspect. However, the warranty coverage of the Jeep Grand Cherokee is the same as the other rivals such as Ford Edge and Chevrolet Blazer. The key warranty and maintenance coverage features are listed below:

  • 3 years of complimentary scheduled maintenance
  • Limited warranty coverage of 36,000 miles or 3 years
  • Powertrain warranty coverage of 60,000 miles or 5 years
